thinking about getting this done finally but I don't know if I want 50 or 35. 50 is lighter. I don't want it super dark. or I could combine the two. what do you think?

35 is not really dark at all.
50 is too light imo.
go with state minimum.

Wherever you get it done should have samples to show you. 50% might not be as dark as you think. I have 35% and sometimes wish it was slightly darker (but IL only allows 35% or higher).

Keep in mind most factory glass already has a little tint to it. It looks like TN allows 35% tint and that is probably what I would choose.

I'm not an attorney or LEO in TN so use your best judgement.

I had "30" put on mine (which is actually 32) and it seems plenty dark, especially at nite.
I've been in cars with 15 & 20 installed and while I liked the outside look, I didn't like the visibility from inside.

A lot depends too on where you live. Some states/locals are really tough on tint levels, others (like much of FL) don't seem to bother with it much unless you are being an ass on the road.

Any tint shop should have some fairly large scrap piece they can put up to the window to give you a general idea of how dark it will be. 50 is very, very mild.

I just got mine done a couple of days ago. Limit in MD is 35%. I got SunTek Carbon XP film. The tint guy said 40% would keep it legal. I went with 33%. He measured it installed at 29%. I like the way it looks. I think darker would look better, but don't want to attract too much attention, or mess with nighttime visibility.

I have 35% Suntek Carbon all around and 70% Suntek Carbon CXP front. Looks great but do think it could've been a bit darker as well. No prob with visibility at night what so ever

I have 15% 3M Crystalline, often times is wish I had gone darker. I'd recommend 20% all around.

So does it matter if you tint in the winter? Ive heard people say its better to wait until it warms up a bit...

What do you guys think?

Normally it should not matter but I have heard that if you tint in the winter, during the summer, the tint would prevent glass from expanding cracking the glass.
