Got really lucky yesterday and attended a local cars & coffee with a friend and his Infiniti Q60 red sport. Just so happened to have an empty spot next to my car when a 1970 Mach 1 pulled in! My wife ran over and asked him to park next to us. Ended up talking to the owner for about 2 hours which was the highlight of the meet. Jay has owned his 70 since 1971 and it still wears the original paint in addition to being powered by it’s original 428! It only has 35,000 miles on it. He told me he can give me the story behind every scratch and ding on it :) Was a real pleasure hearing an old timer share the history of this beautiful car. I’m looking forward to seeing Jay and his car at more events over the summer.
It was so cool seeing the similarities that the 2021 shares with the 1970. When parked next to each other it’s undeniable the DNA these two cars share.
Only had my phone with me so pictures are not the best and I’m no pro, but here are a few pics I took. Enjoy!

Sweet. I like yours more, lol. I'm all about my classics but the '21 looks amazing. I had a 71 Mach along with a several Nova's and these new cars are just so much more fun to Daily drive.

Nice side-by-side pics. My first car was a '69 Mach 1, so it's especially nice to see how much Ford was able to carry the '69-'70 lines into the S550 and even more of the Mach 1 touches into the 2021!

Nice, a 428CJ '70 Mach 1 is high on my old car bucket list. A buddy had a '70 Boss 302 that same color back in the '90s that he regrets selling constantly.

thank you lol. i used to have a 68 mustang coupe. i agree the old cars can't stop or turn but man they look good!

thanks! you would have known better than me with your 69 but looking at pictures before now wasn't enough for me. seeing them in person next to each other really made me appreciate the history of the mach 1 and like you say the carry over from the past to now.

i want a 69 mach 1 so bad it hurts. i'm trying to convince my wife that i won't be complete until i make this happen.

Thanks for the pictures. It reminds me of my 69 Mach 1 that I use to have

I feel your pain the first real muscle car I ever got a ride in was a 69 428 Mach 1
The first real muscle car I ever drove was the same 69 Mustang Mach 1

Still have a poster of a similar White 69 Mustang Mach 1 on my garage wall.

Hopefully one day I will have a 69 Mustang Mach 1 in my garage

I parked next to this guy at my first show two months ago and now it is standard at the show. This is from the July show. We need a 1970 and a mid 00s car to show up to complete the range.

I hardly ever see 03-04 Mach 1’s anymore. There is an azure blue one that I’ve seen a couple times in my area. I’ll try to get pics with him if possible.

Sprung hinges on 50 year old car so does not need a primitive hood prop!!
I thought about that when I was looking through the pictures lol. Didn’t occur to me until then that Ford had that level of technology for holding the hood up way back then but they seem to have misplaced the technical drawings for how to accomplish it on the newer cars :cwl:

I also don't understand how a company that has been building cars for over 100 years and now uses robots to do it cannot build cars with a 2021 build quality where the panels fit and the interior does not have rough edges. I could go on but it is no use. Maybe they should just buy a base model Hyundai to see how it's done!!

I got really lucky with my car as the fit and finish is excellent but I know what you mean. I will say the build quality of the 21 is far superior to the 70, hood struts or not lol

The finish on your S6 should be streets ahead of the Ford.
