One of my leases is coming up. I called my salesman who told me that they normally have 800 cars on the lot. Today, they only had 26
Good god, that’s crazy!

MY local Ford dealer is out of stangs and has about 5 total cars. Unbelievable this is happening .

I've been hearing of dealers laying off salespeople because there's nothing for them to sell....

The good news is that I can buy the car out from the lease and sell it to vroom for a $4k profit....

Hey all, this is my first post and just wanted to say trying to find one of these for MSRP is like winning the lottery. I've been reaching out to dealers for the past several weeks and the best offer(s) I got so far were 5k over sticker price for the base models. Obviously the chip shortage has really mucked things up too and doesn't seem like its getting better any time soon. Hoping I get a desperate salesman calling me with it being Memorial Day weekend but if not, I'll most likely cave and hand over the ADM because I really do want to add one of these cars to the stable :)

Have you used Vroom before? I just recently sold a car to Shift and had an excellent experience. I am now in the process of trying to sell 2 more cars to Vroom and its been crickets ever since I uploaded all the requested documents a few days ago. I've called and emailed and all I get is "we are still processing your paperwork." The only reason I went with them is because they offered far more (several thousand) compared to the other car buyers but if this is how the experience is out of the gate, I'm a little worried how it may go further into the process after I mail them the titles along with them picking up my cars...! Most reviews are good but there are a few horror stories out there as well.

I'm selling my GT to Vroom, everything has been going smoothly so far no long delays or anything. I sent the initial request in on this past Sunday and within the week all the paper work is done and they are going to schedule a pick up for next week.

Glad to hear its going smoothly for you. I guess I just need to be a little more patient as I am sure they are slammed with many others trying to sell them their car. They have physical locations here in Texas where you can go sell your car in person but unfortunately I am several hundred miles away, otherwise I would totally go that route.

I am going to be curious to see how many GT 500 orders get canceled in the coming weeks. After communicating with some great people on this forum and learning that " non covid no chip shortage " GT 500's where taking 6-12 months to be delivered I have decided to cancel my order and go with a LC 500. I can buy the car now and I don't have to worry about build quality. All in all I know the chip shortage is not Ford's fault, but I do feel as if I was mislead by the " perceived " delivery dates given to me back in march when Ford knew there was a chip shortage and ford knows they can not meet delivery dates even without covid or chip shortages. And for the record I am not a ford hater, I own 2 ford vehicles and just attended the GT 350 track attack, which was a amazing experience, but I don't like being lied to when I am spending $ 100,000.00.

Yeah I hate to do it, and have second guessed myself several times, but I'm coming out 8k more than what trade in value was. Extra money to put down toward a 500, but hardly any availability for one at msrp.

*in related news - I went to my Toyota dealership yesterday to get a couple of parts for my Tundra... they had exactly 0 new Tundras or Tacomas on their lot. As a matter of fact - they had about 30 new cars total - the rest were all used trades... This is a dealership where you used to go and the exact car you wanted - in the color you wanted - was on their lot... in duplicate...

This chip shortage is gonna have a very long tail across the auto industry... like - wow.

If you want a GT500 this year - IMHO $5K over is a freakin steal at this point.

YUp. This is why my advice is to find one that is already built in a dealer stock and swoop it up because you’re gonna be waiting a long time otherwise .. honestly who wants to have the GT 500 delivered in the winter ?

Off the delivery subject but has anyone with 2021 GT500's noticed a "strange" noise coming from there parked car? Several times, I have been in the garage and have heard a noise coming from what seems like the rear of the car, like some electrical motor kicking on (almost like a gas tank fuel pump sort of sound). I don't have the "fob" in the vicinity of the car, so it can't be sensing that and turning something on, so not sure what the noise is. Just curious?
