It is most likely your clutch return spring. It sits on a little perch under the clutch.

Here is a video to show you how to put it back on.

For that to be off it sounds like your perch must have broken. Strange.

You can drive fine without it but I'd recommend getting a new one if the perch is indeed broken.

Yeah, clutch spring was my first thought too.
My second thought was it's a 2020 and that's what warranties are for...

Well, I went out to take a photo of the spring and the perch. So the spring and perch are there

in the proper position. My thought is the spring must have rolled out from under the seat after it had been dropped or left by the assembly team by error.

Not sure why yours popped out. Someone above mentioned a perch issue which I would look into. Or maybe it just came loose. Who knows but it should be replaced. Also...I believe that my stock spring was black and much thicker than the one you pictured. While its possible Ford changed it from 2015 to 2020.... did you buy the car new? Might have popped because it was a cheap spring.

The stock spring tries to create a similar clutch press every time. Same feel no matter how hard your press. The problem is that it causes the clutch engage point to move and makes quick shifts difficult to master. This bothers people so they started pulling them out. And that caused a new issue. Pressure on the master cylinder which can cause it to leak.

Also stated above, Steeda makes a replacement spring that takes the pressure off the master cylinder but lets you have repeatable shifts. Odds are someone else makes one that does the same thing. Point is, you need something up there.

No, it didn't pop out. The perch and spring are in thier proper place on the clutch pedal linkage. This just appeared one day after I drove the car. I believe it rolled out from under the seat. The spring in the photo is black it look's light because of the flash.

It is probably like you said; a dropped part from the assembly line.
