My GT500 is in the recall list. Checked the secondary chain tensioner could only see bottom of grove. I rotated engine to 8:30 position, now can see both sections of tensioner!! Appointment on Friday for dealer to confirm and update recall list.

I doubled checked again, and without a doubt, mine is not activated... Now I'll have to call Ford and see what happens with a car vin# that's not listed in the range of cars designated.
Oh boy. Perhaps afflicts all years?

I've been calling dealers, and getting nowhere. Since it's not part of the build date lists, they've been saying there's nothing they can do. Even called Ford offices, and they tell me I have to go through the dealers to have them look at it.
All I want is someone to look at it and tell me good or bad. And if not activated, then I have to try to get it authorized to be replaced. But so far all the dealers just keep telling me if it's not on list, there's nothing they can do.
What do I have to do, wait for the potential that the chain slips, and blows the motor? This is what I'm trying to head off.

If you think it is not activated, I would definitely go in to have it looked at on my own dime. And if it turns out that they need to fix it, I don't think anyone involved in their right mind would charge you for any part of the fix or inspection.

If you have a lot of confidence in your dealer, you could pay them to look at it or get a trusted shop to evaluate if you can not make an exact determination.

I reported on my issue last Friday, L029 is on the list. As stated in my post, I was convinced mine is defective. I could see it good with a mirror, however, could not get a pic good enough to share with you all. Had it hauled to the dealer (that was hard to stomach). They are seeing the same thing, have ordered the parts to replace the tensioner, chains, etc. at this point. Said they would know more when they got it taken apart.
Build date is early 3/20

My vin said no recall. Don't know my build date.

I can't make out my engine builder. Phil Puzano? 🙁

This certainly should be a sticky.

Same builder as mine. Phil Pregano. I'm not showing a recall either.
He built my GT500 engine. All is good with mine.

Hi all
FYI.. Last week when I found out about the recall, I checked my VIN number in both FordPass app and in the web, and both showed FSA 21B26 ACTION REQUIRED. I did the inspection myself and the tensioner was activated.

Today I checked again my VIN number.. and it says "NO RECALLS OR FIELD SERVICE ACTIONS FOUND" and the notification through FordPass app is gone!

Anyone experiencing the same situation??

Carlos

I doubled checked again, and without a doubt, mine is not activated. You can't see any groove in the first pic(mine), and even the black chain guide moves easily. I even looked at someone else's 2019 for comparison, and there tensioner was definitely activated.

Strange. Chad W. and Carrie B. are both experienced builders that go back to at least the 5.8 Trinity builds. In fact Carrie B. is one of the names on my 18 R. Dan L. being the other.

Not sure what is going on. Called multiple dealers, and get the same responses: car's not on the list, and there's nothing they can do. If nothing is wrong or broken, they can't do anything. And any and all work done on these engines, requires authorization from Ford before they can proceed. And that's on any engine work.
Most suggested to just wait, and maybe the list of eligible cars will be expanded.
Though I did speak to one Ford service manager, who was referenced to me by many people, and by a performance shop that specializes in Mustangs. The service manager owns a GT350, and also tracks it. And he has a service technician who is a specialist Ford Performance trained tech, that specializes in GT350's.. The tech was in a training class today. The service manager said he will speak to him tomorrow, and have him talk to his contacts at Ford to see what info they can get, and what, if anything I can do at this point.

Carlos,

I am receiving invalid VIN when I check my VIN on the Ford recall site, worked last week. Also can't verify on FordPass as the app just has LOADING on the screen, will update later today. Maybe they are working the recall list.

Thanks
Barry

The Ford Pass app just updated. And now it's a little buggy. A FSA on my F150 used to show up in the upper left corner, now nothing. The more they update apps, the worse they get.

This is hard spot to be in. Might have to escalate somehow with FP or Ford Cares to get a case going.

Can you buy a #3 or #4 dental mirror and post pics? We can look at it and tell you if the tensioner is activated. If you look at the TSB and follow the procedure, you'll want to make sure it looks like the picture they posted. It's a very easy check and whether a car is or is not on the list, it's an easy enough check that IMO everyone with a GT350/500 should check.
