Okay, I have 300 miles on it and put it in Sport mode today for the first time. Damn! Revs up fast, the automatic was holding 4th around 4-5K. So is that to aggressive for the break in period? How did you break in yours? Drove it like you stole it, baby it or in between?

Just follow the instructions in the owners manual. I don’t have a Mach, but that’s what I did. Over 7000 high reving miles and no issues yet.

Mine had a 700+ mile brake in driving back from Granger, IA to Midlothian, TX. Never held the same speed. Rotated between Sport and drive modes. Also used the mode lever. Do not turn off the traction control ! Way to many idiots do that on the Corvette board. Not a happy ending.

I pretty much followed the book for the first 1000 miles, after bedding the brakes first! I avoided major highways for the first 500 miles, then hit secondary highways (where traffic was moving faster than on the major highways!) for the next 500 miles. No revs over 4K (okay, maybe one to 5K), varied rpms by speed or shifting so never sat at same RPM longer than 5-7 minutes for the first 500 and no longer than 10 minutes up to 1000. I'm now over 2300 miles and the Coyote is growling beautifully!

First time in Sport mode convinced me of that!

Took mine the 2nd day on twistys in track mode...trying to stay under 5000, but I did do a short pull with a challenger 392 🤷‍♂️

Depending on your location in socal, there are without question some dynamite drivers roads. Sections of old US 66 come to mind. Also, to the south of Palm Springs.

Tried to watch and it’s showing private.
Thanks for letting me know. I'll check it.

Should be good now. But only if you have the link. It's not searchable.

Long break in periods were needed in the past. We had cast or chrome rings and very rough cylinder honing.

Today the ring material is much better and the honing is much finer. They break in much faster today. Probably fully seated in by 250 miles.

I wonder if all the high oil consumption engines were due to easy break in.

Their warranty = their problem as long as I show I followed their break-in. Therefore, the first 500 miles were "kind, yet assertive" and the second 500 were "assertive yet kind". From 1000 to 2000, it was assertive, never mind the "kind" stuff, especially since I knew the car was learning my driving style (which is why it stayed in Sport mode nearly all the time!) After crossing 2000 miles, I'm not quite at the "drive it like you stole it" because, um, it IS mine! And I am enjoying driving it somewhere between assertively and aggressively. Given what I've felt in this car so far, and what I'm learning in the Ford Performance Driving School this weekend, the Mach 1 is the best choice I could make to keep find and keep that balance short of spending way more time on tracks!
