I leave my cars for 5 months every year. The first time I left a battery tender junior on the battery in one of the cars, I came back and the whole garage smelled like battery acid. The battery had gone bad, was at 10 volts and the charger was still trying to charge it. The battery was hot and bubbling. Lucky it did not burn up the car and the garage. Now I pull the battery and take it with me, when I get there I put a trickle charger on it in a safe place that I can monitor. I have had 3 battery tender juniors go bad, so now I buy Schumacher. This will be the first time taking the battery out of the 19 GT. I plan to just put it back in when I get back and hope the BMS works correctly.

Never was a fan of the little one junior. Friend of mine had a vet purchased one of those.

They don't look big enough to charge an electric shaver.
I believe those are more for a riding lawn morrow, MCs.

Get what you pay for is my thought, you're 3 for 3

I think I just had bad luck because I still have one that has lasted for years. A bunch of them were replaced under warranty. I don't have a problem with the Battery Tender brand.
As far as the size it's better to have a small charge rate for a battery tender.
I would much rather trickle charge at .75 amps than 1.5. To me it's safer. The tradeoff is that if you put it on a somewhat dead battery it can take a day to charge up, trade offs you know.
Years ago I used to repair battery charges for Motorola and GE portable radios.
I was involved not only in the repair but modification and design.
We had quite a battery program. At one time I was repairing 160 chargers a month, so I know a little bit about battery chargers. I got to talk to the engineers when we had problems.

I have a NOCO 10amp charger if I ever need a fast charge, but I use the tender for maitenance/slow.

I have been using BTJ for like 10 years I swear, has never let me down. I had a dozen single chargers, gave them to friends and just upgraded to the 4 bank and never looked back. its never been unplugged once.

Not weird at all, as cars grow more complex with layers of computers, processors, systems and memory, going old school and pulling a battery for a year, or swapping out for a different type of battery can create all kinds of problems. I'd prefer to avoid that.

This won't be a problem on my truck or other cars/motorcycles.

So there are no 'embedded batteries' in the computer systems like on my wife's Mercedes? Her main battery drained over the winter and not driving due to COVID, and has created all kinds of sub systems problems because the system was completely drained. That is what I am trying to avoid.

That's one of the reasons for leaving the battery in situ with a trickle charger connected. I use a 1.6 amp projecta brand (Australian) but have a Ctek should I need a greater charge. The connector is fused with a low amp fuse should it overcharge. I used it for 9 years on my last GT Falcon permanently connected and it never let me down now it's done nearly 2 years of service on the Mustang. Low voltage and more importantly no voltage can have a profound effect on newer cars that need to have their systems constantly running to perform correctly when required. It's only when you have the problems you have experienced that you realise how sensitive they really are.

I have used Ctek for my 2012 Mustang GT as I seldom drive it all year. Owners of Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Porsches use Ctek. I never had any problem or issues and am still using the original battery.

That's because it is supplied to them. Called a gimmick, bribe, car type & battery charger means nothing .

No gimmick. What’s incredible is the car battery is still the original from Ford when I bought my 2012 Mustang GT on December 29, 2011 and is still going strong. You ever heard of a smart charger? That’s what the Ctek is.

it does the same thing a battery tender jr does or any other reputable smart charger.

all the same tech. I highly recommend one to anyone, I also keep batteries way past when I should, but they are healthy from tendering.

Which one you using? I never used any other and am not paid by Ctek to advertise. Just sharing my experience as my 2012 GT is a garage queen with a soon to be 10 year old battery from the factory. By the way it’s hooked on it year round and original battery has never been replaced or taken out of the car. I even bought another unit to charge my 86 GT. That car battery is out of the car as that is my street/strip warrior. Am original owner on my 2012 and 86 GTs. I love Mustangs and looking to buy a new Base 2021 GT soon and give my son the 2012.

ive had like a dozen battery tender jr single chargers, but when I moved into my new house 5-6 years ago, I wanted not so many singles, so I gave them to friends, and installed a 4 bank battery tender jr on wall.

I used to have 1 scooter, 2 motorcycles, and summer car on charge over winter, but I sold scooter, then I kept a mower in the garage over winter on charge in the scooters spot. but then I installed a 12v solar panel set up on top of shed, so its being tendered all year round when not being used.

but yeah, its dope as hell.

you can see it on the wall in the back, beside the door, wall mounted.

ive never had a battery fail in any of my vehicles, not once. I always replaced them when a dealership said, hey man. its like 7 years old, we have a special going on, installed etc. I would Chuck them in. but yeah, these tenders $$$ saved.

im not invested in BTJ, but man, their chargers are 25 bucks, and work excellent, I just got tired of a million of them plugged in around for all my vehicles, the 4 bank is super recommended if you are like me, and have multiple vehicles needed charged over winter.

I have a quick attachment, clipped to each vehicle, scion, mustang, motorcycles, so all I do is just clip male into female plug, but I also have spare "gator clips" etc, so I can charge other batteries if I needed too or something random.

I've had a Deltran Tender for 10+ years, and move it between the 4 cycles in the garage over the winter, a week on each one. Normally when I am away for a year, will just disconnect the negative leg of the battery. AGM's usually keep the charge no issues. Normal lead Acid will need a top off. I bought a new JR for the Mustang if I use it.

My main concern was what an extended disconnected battery would have on the computer systems of the Bullitt. Still not decided on what I will do.
