I’m trying to figure out what this button does or did... I bought a used 2017 GT and just noticed this button.

(sorry, hopefully this helps explain the pix and where the wire goes)

the button is mounted at the bottom of the dash. I followed the wire, and it goes to a box which is zipped tied behind the dash, behind the radio area. It connects in and there is another connecter in the box coming out. The wire then disappears behind the dash. Another wire comes back out and is zipped tied over the pedals and the. Spliced into some more wires above the clutch area.

It seems to be some kind of aftermarket add on. Push it and see what happens. Nothing that I commonly have seen here seems to match it although I am definitely not an expert on these kind of mods.

Yeah, I’ve pushed it. I’ve held it down. Pushed it multiple times. I’m assuming the previous owner had something installed and removed it. But was hoping someone could identify what it was.

Never saw one in my 2015 GT. Had to be for something that was added on. Maybe ask the owner if you can find them or a dealer may know...

I’m of no help here Brandon but it’s nice to see you back in a mustang so soon. Hope you’re feeling okay from that crazy accident. It hurts to look at that profile pic. That car was looking so good. Let’s see the new one. What color did you get?

Oh crap, you’re being tracked. Get the hell outta there!
Haha. I’ll drive fast. They will never catch me.
Ok. First order of business. I’m cutting this shit out out of my car.

It is a dealer anti-theft device, rip it out. Some dealers apparently install them on all their cars in an attempt to upsell it as some sort of security system for the car.

Some refer to it as a knock knock box, but I am certain it is a Karr anti-theft device.

apparently some versions of this will allow for an app to be linked for gps tracking and vehicle disabling. Seems in all the threads where I find this thing is discovered it is a hack job by the dealer when installed and those that do pay for it say it sucks.
