A GPS system in your car that someone else installed? Take it out and put it in someone else's car

apparently some versions of this will allow for an app to be linked for gps tracking and vehicle disabling. Seems in all the threads where I find this thing is discovered it is a hack job by the dealer when installed and those that do pay for it say it sucks.

Guess the next question, will chopping that out disable the vehicle I'd hold the dikes until he finds out.

OP Just got the car, go back to the dealer ?

It is a dealer anti-theft device, rip it out. Some dealers apparently install them on all their cars in an attempt to upsell it as some sort of security system for the car.

Some refer to it as a knock knock box, but I am certain it is a Karr anti-theft device.

if not disabled before uninstalling, if activated, it could be a PITA.

Iā€™m assuming the first owner opted for this. As I was not charged for any dealer add ons or security devices.

On a side note. The previous owner left his iPhone connected to the sync radio. It has his name. Iā€™m gonna try to find him and ask whatā€™s been done to the car.

He is in his 60s. Old school, loves mustangs. But he hates black wheels. His wife said, first thing he did was put chrome wheels on and SOLD the original black PP1 wheels. Ughhh.

Brandon,

Hope youā€™re doing well after that accident and glad to see you in another S550!

Before you remove that GPS tracker, be careful of disconnecting or snipping any wires - just in case it renders the ignition circuit InOp.... I donā€™t know how those things are wired in, but some devices like that depending on the wiring is also a preventative for theft. Meaning if the thief snips or tried to disable the tracker, it could also just totally disable the ignition....

You donā€™t want to cause a larger issue by taking it out blindly. See if you can get a set of the install instructions to review the wiring schematics first before ripping it out.

Best of luck with the new ride and glad to see you up and running again!

Any option to buy your old wheels? I'm not sure if they're all intact, but even getting 2 or 3 good ones would be a decent starting point.

Personally, unless you really want to keep the tires on the current wheels (and if they're even the correct size for PP1 wheels ...), I'd just skip OEM parts and go aftermarket :)

Nope. Waited until the chrome wheels for the PP1 came available in the 2019 production cycle before I ordered the car.

Get off my lawn!
