I had a GT350 with one of Borla's systems and felt it was better than the R's sound.

On my 2020 GT500 I have only done a resonator delete from Lethal and I'd say it is even better. An angrier, meaner growl that doesn't have to whine like a bitch at extreme rpm's to get noticed.

Case in point, I just got back from tracking at Roebling Road down in Georgia a few days ago. There were a couple of ZL1's there that sounded fantastic, as well as a Porsche GT3 with a custom exhaust that held its own. When I returned into the paddock after a few laps everyone commented on the exhaust, including the track management. They told me I easily exceeded the 103db limit they agree to keep an eye on. There's a woman that lives nearby that called to say her windows were rattling every time I was out - and there were guys much faster than me there. It felt good to hear the comments about the sound. The car screamed down the straight. Crank up this shitty video and judge for yourself. It doesn't capture it nearly as well as real world sound but it is somewhat representative. I was hitting 155 at the end of the straight whereas on a GT350 could only manage 144. Slightly holding back with that weak kneed brake pedal pivot on my mind...

That does sound pretty sweet.
Factory exhaust though, I still like the R.
Custom, I think they both can achieve something near perfection.
I mean, what a great world we live in where we get to have a conversation over exhaust notes? That’s pretty cool that it’s even a conversation we can have.

If the car is primarily for street use, I would choose the GT500. I had a GT350, and while it handled great, its low end power was a bit soft, especially below 2K rpm. The FPC did sound pretty good, but I found its switchable exhaust was either too loud in Sport or Track modes or too quiet in Normal mode. For everyday driving, it needed another setting. Also, as others have mentioned, the car does tram-line. IMO, unless you really want a high revving, track focused, manual car, the GT500 at msrp is a no brainer.

GT350. The power on the street can hardly be put down at 500HP let alone 760. You won't be able to wring out the 500 on the street. You will spin and lose to way less HP cars with awd. The 350 is going to be way more fun and in my opinion looks better. the only thing I like better on the 500 is the hood. If you like manual cars, get the 350... each time you're done driving it, you will say to yourself. This is one hell of a car, Ford killed it on this one. The new 350 is one of fords 2 greatest of all time. GT500 won't be on that list. BUT, if you want a slightly faster street experience and love highway pulls that put your license on the line hahaha!! Get the 500...it has the power for sure.
Answer me this... do you own a GT500? Have you driven one on the streets?

You are wrong, this car puts the power down amazingly. There is ZERO comparison between how this car performs on the street to ANY mustang before it, including the GT350.

You are also wrong about Fords greatest cars of all time. The ranking is the Ford GT,GT500,GT350R,GT350.... The GT500 is #2

I get it, you love your GT350, and I agree it's a great car. As far as a manual transmission, the GT350 & GT350 R are the cars to have, BUT the GT500 is a better performing car. Period.

I agree with you. I have both. The 500 bc of its accessibility , may go down as greater than the GT. It’s a damn near perfect machine. It puts the power down exceptionally well. I haven’t “spun” at all yet. I’ve driven several Stage rousches and they do not put power down.

Now now..... everyone calm down. The obvious answer is to own a base R, electronics R, and a CFTP.

There. Settled. Now let's all sing kumbaya.

We call that the trifecta Tom

I will say that someday, when I have my retirement home somewhere way south of Massachusetts, I WILL pick up a second mustang. It will be either a GT350 or GT350R. Probably a fully loaded 350 because I love my comfy features in my old age.

Owned 2016 GT350 for 3 years. Now own GT500 since December and 5K miles. There's a lot to unpack, so keeping is simpler.
Both vehicles are very forgiving, but I think 500 wins as its 4 years improved. 5
350 has manual, high revs, and the VooDoo sound!
500 is auto, looks, and gobs of power.

I think those things would be the major factors. Maybe payment too.

1 ....GT500 great car for the drag GT350 not
2 ....GT500 street brawler GT350 not
3 ....GT500 great car for the track..GT350 great car but slower.
Nobody wants to talk about the elephant in the room. Oil consumption and vibration issues with some GT 350’s.

I have a 20 350, and a 500 on order. What struck me at the Track Attack a few weeks ago I did was all the instructors that were with us for the two days preferred the 350 over the 500. They all gave kudos to the engineers on the transmission, and were amazed by how well it was executed. One that was doing the hot lap demo’s mentioned he just drove an R8 and hands down thought the 500 was a better car. He mentioned right after, I’d have the 350 first. I think the idea that one is better then the other comes down to preference.

@P4mnceblue82 ,

I would try to find a way to drive both cars if I were you. They really are both awesome, but both different. I think it comes down to whether you really want a manual transmission or not, and whether 500HP is enough power. My last mustang had over 150+HP more than my R and honestly, I don't miss the power especially on the street. I didn't see an R mentioned in your post, but the 2020s have the revised steering knuckle from the GT500. I don't have any issues with tramlining and that's with the stock Cup 2s.

My question is, does the GT500 make you ever want to own 2 or 3 of them?
I don't think many cars do.

I would absolutely love to find a way to drive the 500. But I know no dealer is going to let me. I was lucky to get the test drive in the 350. Few reasons for me not considering R.
1) priced at or above 500 in trim and spec im looking at.
2) no comfort seat option in R. I find them way more to my liking than the recaros.
3) would have to immediately invest in wheels and tires. Roads here are horrendous. Carbon fiber wheels wouldn't last a week and cup 2's on R aren't the greatest daily tire.

But if I wanted to spend the extra cash.... yes I'd def consider a new 2020 R. Do a seat swap with new wheel and tire set up.

After picking my GT500 up today and previously owning GT350 I disagree. I drove 450 miles home and it was amazing. Didn't go over 4k RPM except once (in about a mile long tunnel. Had to hear the roar). The power is instant on the GT500 where as the GT350 had to be revved out it felt like. Great for track but not so much for street in my opinion.

The GT500 handles just as well as the GT350 in my brief drive. Granted I haven't tracked either but just road feel is what I am basing it on.

That depends on many factors. Who wouldn't, but we are all limited by stalls in the stable.
