Yeah for real. This is three pages of people saying it should work but it doesn't. That's why you have a warranty, just get them to check it out. It doesn't matter when it was built, or what the manual says, document it and move on.

I suspect it's a software bug when Ford changed something for MY2020 near the end of production (before RONA came to town). My car was built 10/19 and the trunk button works like it's supposed to.
My car was built on 3/4/2020

My experience…worked exactly as it should for the past two years...car locked and once I get close with key FOB, I can press the trunk release button and it opens with the car locked.

However, I swapped to a digital dash a couple weeks back. Now, same story as OP. I have to unlock the car to open the trunk. What this is telling me is there is ABD which requires to be changed to make this work correctly. As someone stated earlier, I'm betting the OP ABD is incorrectly configured.

Maybe something we could fix with ForScan?

If you have two fobs, try tossing one in the trunk before closing it. If the rear proximity sensor is working the trunk should pop back open. If it doesn't you may have a problem with the sensor.

Yes sir. Problem is finding which line and value to change and what to change it to. Need to compare a cars ABD that is equipped exactly like mine with this option working vs my ABD for the digital cluster. I used this method for another problem involving magneride indicator on the digital dash and it worked.

I tried this and the trunk unlocked itself so there's a proximity sensor there

You might be right about the ABD.

I would make sure it opens with the trunk release button by the steering wheel, and your app too. That way, you can narrow it down to the button, or the proximity sensor not picking up your fob.
What app???
