Just tell the dealer you pushed the button to start the car and it fell off. :fistbump:

Don't do it. Go with the honest approach. You will be surprised how far it would get you.

When I purchased my 2018 GT, 3 days later, I had a tyre go boom, on the motor way. I took it to the dealer to get it replaced. Didn't go into detail about what happened etcetera. But, they replaced it, and I asked for the bill. No bill, it was all covered under warranty...!

Needless to say, I was surprised...

You are right.. he should not do that. But it is tempting. Temptation is the devil's work! And so are boobies, but I digress.

The results of this are part of the hazard of modifications, unfortunately. Been there.. done that.

Success!!! Magnets baby. Really sucked getting them in there (since they are attracted to each other and the devices you would place them in there with). Plus super glue can make the Pope curse. But it’s good enough.

Nicely done. And the car starts and all that?

This is what I was looking for. The original directions for replacing the cover before they figured out you could just pop it off. If you decide to replace the panel here's how you do it.

Absolutely this is what I would do if I broke the cheap plastic cap...NOT. Just use a small dab of E6000 adhesive to the center of the broken cap and center it into place and you are done. I'm not about to roll the dice and break another piece of plastic plus spend the entire day R/R the dash.

Great idea there! And you've left yourself the option to change it again if you find another button you like. Really ingenious idea!

If the magnets don’t work try a couple small dabs of silicone.

The magnets are a great idea. I bought the red start button and got a bit scared after seeing you break the clips. But now there is a backup plan.
