This is right outside the Mt Wilson Observatory. Fun drive up there.
Oh yeah. I drive up angeles about once a week on the weekends to cruise. Were lucky to have awesome canyons like crest and the one in SGV to cruise.

I had several 68 and 70 Mustangs. I kept my 73 Mach 1 until 1996 because I never cared for the look of the Fox body. I eventually bought a Miata in 2001 and almost replaced it with a 2005 Mustang. But, I didn't care for the ride of the 2005. When the 6G came out I knew I had to have one. The S550 is a beautiful design! I sold my Miata at 258,000 miles a bought my 2015 with 13,000 miles. Race Red EB Premium. Currently at 144,000 miles, so I obviously like it. It also turns out to be the 280th pre-production car built in May of 2014. It went to Ford Product Planning & Styling and was never titled until just before I bought it in 2016. So not only is she a beautiful Mustang, but has some interesting history.

Iā€™ve never taken the trip up to Mount Wilson Observatory. Sounds like a fun drive. Do you take the 2 up there?

I am definitely enjoying my first Mustang and first brand new car for that matter. Even though it's nothing special, I make up "excuses" just to go drive around, and often take the long way home just to waste some fuel. I like the jekyll and hyde personality it has, it's a chill and relaxed cruiser but above 4000RPM it's like the hulk has come out to play, lol. Can't really ask for a better daily driver, other than when snow starts to fall but my other car comes into play there.

Toyota guy here, first FORD i've ever owned. Nothing beats the sound of a domestic V8 screaming at 7.5k rpms on a country back road in central / southern ohio. The Amish here never seen such a pony!

Love the modern muscle car. The Borla exhaust makes rowing gears fun while the coyote sings !

Iā€™ve been married for over 50 years to the same woman and Iā€™ve been a car nut for all my life.
During that time Iā€™ve owned 396 Chevelles (3) 327 ChevyII, Olds 442 (2) z28 Camaro, RX7 and 240z that Iā€™ve put big American v8s in.
Iā€™ve had 2 350zs recently, and bought my first Mustang (2012 GT auto). I missed the handling of the 350Zs but enjoyed the sound and power of the s197. In October 19 I bought the S550.

In those 50 years my wife tolerated my addiction but never had much interest in any of these toys. She absolutely loves our S550, which is a bit of a shock to me as it is a bright orange and sheā€™s quite a conservative lady. She tells me to be careful where I park it and on and on.
I also love the car, handles like a dream, sounds perfect with the loudmouths, and great gas mileage. I also love all the aftermarket stuff available!

Got my first Mustang when I was seventy years old. Been delighted and pleasured by each of the six subsequent Mustangs, for all the good-car reasons, PLUS: there is delight and pleasure in witnessing all the Mustang owners being delighted and taking pleasure in their Mustangs, as memorialized in online forums and "meets". Even the occasional cranky disbeliever enhances the appreciation of Mustangs, by contrast. How's that for positivity?

Long post warning:

Iā€™ve been into Mustangs since I was 6-7 years old.
My older brother was a GM guy so it was natural.

When I got my license the hunt was on for me. I looked at a bunch of Fox Body cars and 94-98 GTā€™s. Came really close on a pristine 95 Rio Red GT and then a 98 GT. Neither worked out, so I almost got a basket case Fox notch which I thought was the baddest thing at the time. Probably best I passed (fun fact, I had a second chance to buy this car a few years later and also ran from it then.. after I had built up my wrenching knowledge).

After a lot of looking and no success (I HAD to have a manual, wanted decent mileage and was shooting for a 99+ after learning about the PI 4.6) the boyfriend of a girl that worked in the same shopping center I did was selling his 00 GT. I picked that up and we were two bandits ever since (this was ā€˜06 and my HS graduation present to myself - been working my ass off since I was 14 for that day).

Fast forward to 2018. A lot transpired over a few years with life in general. Now in the work world and in a career position, the itch had been nagging to get back in a GT. I started my hunt with S-197 cars. I wasnā€™t as moved by them as I first was once the S550 came out. My girl and I went to the 50th anniversary Mustang event in Charlotte and the S550 debut was a huge thing (this wouldā€™ve been 2014). I couldnā€™t get over how bad ass the car was. At the time it was in no way in my cards to own one.

I looked at a few S550ā€™s and again, needed a manual and on this go-round, Perfomance Package. I ended up with my GT below in a semi odd fashion. The dealership had another GT I went to check out. Took it on a test drive and came back to talk numbers and apparently (or in dealer antics) someone had put a deposit on the car already. They had another GT listed but it wasnā€™t on the lot. The salesman grabbed a golf cart and said ā€œletā€™s go find itā€. As soon as we found it, I felt this was the one. SUPER clean 2016, Performance Package, 5,800mi.. It was waiting to go through detail. They pulled it out and we went for a ride. My heart was sold that day.. took a few days of back and forth on price and trade in value but it ended up going down and Iā€™ve been happy since.
