Wait are those actual full design prototypes that they built back in '90 for those 3 options they were considering? They can't be computer renders right, not back then...

Pretty cool to see the diff looks they had in mind. I can't believe with everything being digital and internet based nowadays, we don't have more leaks into these design processes in this day and age.

Across from that evos clay model are some drawings that looks like they were playing with the wheelbase. One of them I can see looking pretty good as a mustang concept.

Agree. A few of the renders on there have been seen (like the one below), but the stretched version I think you're referring to has a rear deck that extends beyond the rear wheel. Proportions looks much more stang-like.

Yea I bet somewhere in a Ford design studio there's a clay model that looks like that one in the middle.

You're talking about classic mustang and then saying they should start with the Evos??

No. They should start with the previous gens. If they want to make it less retro, they should work off of the Fox/SN95, not a totally different concept that they revealed in Germany.
Throgh all this I dont think I've read one comment on any Ford forum that says the Evos is an ugly piece of shit. If all Ford hears is "it's a beautiful car but it's not a Mustang" you really think they will care that much?

All they have to do is design a mustang that does a better job at attracting new customers than it does at offending/losing existing loyal fans. It's always harder to get new buyers than it is to lose current ones.

I visit some of the vette/chevy forums sometimes and I read a LOT of posts from people who say the Evos got their attention and they would've never considered a Mustang before, but would if it looks anything like that.

I dont disagree with you but to be fair, those are the "car guys" types that arent so tied to one brand or another. Great design is great, but a one-off one hit wonder doesnt produce repeat customers or the type of loyal diehard fans that Ford or any company wants.

I know a lot of people who will only buy a Mercedes, or only buy BMW, or Porsches. I dont hear the same thing about the Audis of the world. The reason is, it's not just about great design, but creating strong/unique brand culture and DNA. You can't build a cult following without it.

Yea I've been on bimmerpost (considering a 3 series for a daily driver) and have seen the same reaction to the Evos and some of the renders based off of it. Those guys have been worrying about the Mustang ever since it gave the M3 a run for its money. How else can they justify the price difference?
