If I got a flash tuner in order to install an air Intake , can u alwyss reset the tune back to stock if ever having to go to the dealership for warranty ? Or it doesnt work like that

They can check if the ECU has been flashed as it leaves a thumbprint, doesn’t matter if you flash it back. Some dealerships don’t care if you tune it, others do. You could look into the Ford Power Packs which are Ford Performance tunes that, iirc, don’t void warranty.

If you play with fire expect to get burned. Is it a risk your willing to take?

if you have to take it in, flash back to stock and put atleast 200 miles and 20 key cycles before taking it in. They wont see the flash tune.

You have this backwards. The CAI supports the tune not the other way around. What kind of warranty did you get? If it was a 3rd party warranty even the Ford Performance tune could void it.

So after 200 miles and 20 starts, the history of the flash is gone?

I was told this by my friend at the local dealer. He said that they wouldnt be able to go back that far in the computer log. However, if you cant do all the key turns and mileage due to something bad then ur out. But I am not worried about it myself, the tuners are amazing with the tunes on these cars. So I wouldnt worry about it. I am getting a lund tune here soon for my 19GT with 4900 miles

With Tunes and warranties there always a risk involved so be ready for the worst. With that said I agree the big tuners know there stuff. I've been tuned by lund for 20,000 miles with no need to go to the dealer for anything. Car runs flawlessly. Needless to say lund will be doing my tuning for all my future mods.

They absolutely can see the flash tune, and there's no way to hide it. I've had guys bring in cars telling me it's on the stock tune. Yeah, you do realize that we have software to pull up the actual coding on the ECU and it logs every single change you make, right?

Tune = Warranty Voided in virtually every case. Even if your dealer would overlook it, which they won't, Ford will override them and void the warranty when the claim is submitted.

^This, though be sure you check with the dealer and Ford on whether or not the Ford tunes void warranty.

***Edit: Here's some more info on the FRPP tunes and parts. These tunes do NOT void warranty, so if you're looking to do a tune under warranty I would consider this option.

https://performanceparts.ford.com/warranty/include/pdf/Select_Parts_Warranty_Statement_2015.pdf

It's from 2015, but nothing has changed. I was not aware of these as an option as my company is not a Ford dealership so we are always dealing with tunes from Bama, Diablosport, SCT, etc. that do void your warranty.

The ford power packs allow you to keep your warranty, BUT only if you get the package installed by a ford dealership. Also, by law, ford cannot deny your warranty unless they can prove that the reason why you brought in the car was because of a tune that caused whatever issue you may have.

If we only knew if his warranty was from Ford or a 3rd party. Also regardless of the law there are dealers who will say no without even submitting the claim.
