I bought a 2017 GT and the exhaust note sounds underwhelming. However the lifetime warranty on the drivetrain was a huge selling point for me and I don’t want to risk voiding it. How can I change the exhaust without voiding the warranty? Is my only option having the dealer install a ford approved exhaust? Thanks

You should be fine doing anything behind the cats. I've never heard of a warranty problem on a car with cat-back exhaust.
If you're worried, just to the axle=back portion. If something happens, and you're still worried, change them out.

But seriously, I wouldn't (and don't) worry.

You buy an axleback and install it. The only thing not covered by your warranty will be the aftermarket axleback. Its a muffler, not a procharger upgrade.

I just don’t want to give Ford any reason not to warranty something down the road.

Do you have a short life expectancy? It should only be I believe 5 years or 60K miles on the drive train - not lifetime. As long as your exhaust mod doesn't contribute to the drivetrain failure - you should be good. You cannot really blow an engine with say an x pipe. Now headers and a tune - that would be cause for trouble. Catback should be fine.

Resonator delete and axle back is no problem with warranty. Loud ASF too!

No. It’s lifetime on the drivetrain.

Sounds like a dealer warranty - which probably they will find a reason to not honor - but I could be wrong. I have the 8 year warranty through Ford MoCo - which I'm fairly sure is the max.

So you just answered your own question. You're best bet is to leave the car stock. Not worth losing your health over. Short of Henry Ford appearing in a vision and giving you his approval you won't sleep nights if you change the exhaust tone by swapping a muffler out.

I want to keep my 100k ford warranty, so I bought axle back's ford dealership told me I won't lose any warranty except the muffler warranty if it ever had an issue. said anything after cat is basically fine.

If you're concerned about what will and won't void the warranty (per the link you posted, it's a warranty offered by that dealership, not by Ford), perhaps you should call them and ask.

Maybe so but it’s offered for free at every dealership and is good for the entirety of your ownership. https://www.fordofmurfreesboro.com/lifetime-warranty.html
Well, you can get it repaired at any dealership, but the warranty is 3rd party to Ford and looks to be administered by the selling dealership. Not necessarily a problem, but as it's not a national product, few (if any) people here will know anything about it.

Read the Magnusson-Moss act. They cannot deny your warranty unless they prove the parts or your workmanship caused an issue. In this case, doing a catback or axleback would only void your catback exhaust warranty.

You need to find out who the underwriter is for the warranty is . Get a copy of a detailed list of what's covered and what stipulations that have . The link you gave is very brief , there should be a detailed contact of the warranty.

Just change the exhaust... If you don't, yeah you have a warranty, but you will still... be wanting. Make the car yours. The stock cat-back is all one piece. Buy a kit, replace stock, and keep the stock pipes stored for any such warranty claims. it will bolt right back up... Just saying. Who hasn't done this already... hahaha!!!
