Hello All!

I recently picked up a pair of wheels. The specs are 18x8.5 in the front and 18x9.5 for the rear.
I am looking for a good all around street/canyon tire. I am not sure what size to run in both front & rear aswell.
Any help is appreciated!

[Edit]
Would running a 255/275 setup be way overkill for the 3.7?

sure you didn't want to just do 18x9.5 all around? what ET on the wheels?
245/255 or 245/275 would work. Pull up the 'specs' tab at Tirerack to compare. The 255 on the 8.5 will generally fit but I think some stretch is preferred. You want to compare 'tread width' to wheel width and pick the tread width that is <= wheel width.

the Cooper Zeon is priced very low right now

Just say no to staggered if you like turning at all.

If you take the car above 6/10ths you'll quickly find the understeer tendencies associated with a narrow front tire on this car. It needs as much front tire as it can get.

has anyone run 9.5-10.5 in the front and narrower in the back? reverse-stagger if you will.

Not a good idea for a powerful, heavy car.

The GT ships with 8.5 wide rims at the back, so running 9 or 9.5 is an improvement. Is the concern that the improved 'stick' at the front (running 9.5+ rims) will suck the driver into getting too happy with the throttle and lead to "snap" oversteer?

Yes. The fact that Ford ships them with 235 wide tires doesn't take away from the fact that it's nowhere near enough tire for a 3700+, 400 whp car. The car has embarrassingly low levels of performance with 235 wide A/S tires. 255 is the minimum for reasonable street performance (equal or better than your average family sedan).

+35 on both front and rear. and I figured going 9.5 in the front would be too wide? no?

Would a better setup be to run 18x8.5 square?

9.5 wide on the front should be minimum for any kind of high performance driving. For putting around town anything will work.
sounds like you're not familiar with https://support.apexraceparts.com/h...5483093-S550-Mustang-Wheel-Tire-Fitment-Guide
I will see if I can exchange the two 8.5's for two more 9.5's. Thank you for the link!

10" wheels are an easy fit up front with +35. I'm running a 285/35-19 on all 4 corners with +35 offset. If you can get 9.5's swapped for your 8.5's, that would be a great step to make, and you can rotate your tires if the offset stays the same.

255/45-18 or 275/40-18 for a 9.5?
Pick a price point and tire model and look at the specs page on tirerack. /40 section is plenty. I wouldn't go below /35 for day to day street use unless your roads are of very good quality.
