Perzactly what I thought the answer would be, bubba..thanks...and I agree, FWIW. Now, if it gets down in the twenties before or during shipment, I think all bets are off.

Man, would I EVER hate to find a crack let alone many, in any tire upon delivery. Can you imagine how long we'd probably have to wait for replacement tires?
But at least you'd have the car. You haven't even considered the fact your car could be on the lot all winter, have you?

I'd take cracked tires any day of the week and let ford pay to replace them. Ask me how I know.

Tomasino: Oh yeah, I have thought about the possibility of the cars wintering outdoors in Detroit and once again, you're absolutely correct about "a bird in the hand." I would much rather that be how things transpire if it's gonna happen, than waiting all Winter.

I was just lamenting the fact that THE DAY should be a REALLY GREAT DAY, but might turn into a slam dunk bummer but again, not anything like all Winter outdoors.

It's not a big deal. Before acceptance of the car, closely examine the tires. If there are any defects, note it, and let the warranty process run its course. I have example cracked tire photos if you would like.

Tom,
I think I have seen some of your pics before but did not save them, if you can post them for us to save to phone so when we take delivery we have something to look at I think a lot of people would appreciate it and I know for one I would

Not to mention the anxiety level when you have to have them mounted on CF wheels. What are the chances of finding someone in your town that has the correct machine and experience to mount tires on CF wheels without damaging them?

As they say these days...

"TRUE THAT," Earl!

Tom: I see Jeff asked to see the image again and it wouldn't hurt. But in my mind, any crack in those near-slicks should be readily visible. My Mother worked for one of the rubber companies in Akron for decades and I worked there during summer breaks. Taught me a fair amount about tires which I've used multiple times since back in the day.

Just find a guy with a hunter touchless machine. Most Ford dealerships have them. Hammer home to the person the importance of taking their time and promise to tip them well for taking the extra time.

As long as you find the right guy with the right machine, you will be fine.

Take lots of photos, and document everything well before/after and hold people accountable

Wait for it.... didnt come.

So my thoughts on this are that due to scheduling constraints or whatever, they dont want to crank these things out. They dont want to put any special attention into these performance vehicles because they are nothing but mustang's in the grand scheme of things.

Anybody have any other thoughts?
I think the GT500 - every single GT500 - is a halo car and they are precious to Ford. Ford doesn't want to mess up on the GT500 by sending cars that aren't quite ready.

There were delays on the GT350s as well, but when we got those cars, they were awesome. My bet is the same thing happens with the GT500.

I'm not so sure. They roll down the line with all the other mustang's at flat rock and they are treated like any other mustang. The average line worker could probably care less whether he (or she) is slapping together an EcoBoost or GT500.

They would have to be a little odd in the head to feel that way in my opinion.

I take it that you have never worked on an assembly line?

I say this because this isnt the first time it has come up around here. Do a search on fit and finish.

Tom: I think that "Hunter Touchless" machine is what I saw at BMW when the dealer (to whom I will never give another penny,) needed to mount a new tire on my '14 after I got a road hazard in a parking lot.

Thanks for the tip and I will certainly ask if my current dealership has one of them. <fingers crossed>

PS. It's 40 in Dearborn and raining. High of 44 today.

The machine is only as good as its operator.
