Full meltdown mode going on over on the C6 forum...especially by the local village idiot.
Oh come on millhouse, be real. Most of the guys on that thread (myself included) give the GT500 its credit and acknowledged early on that an 11.3 in Vegas in bad DA would be sub 11 in eastern zone tracks. If you call one or two people in denial "a meltdown" I would point you to either one of the mass threads or 3rd pedal threads here to demonstrate what a meltdown really looks like.

lol, 11.3. Stangmode posted a 10.9 and another posted a 10.85 in vegas. Guy already posted his 10.6 in a private test. 11.3 was with amateurs. No front engine car period will do that on ps summer stock tires and a warranty ad then blow up the track in the same day.

What's so damn funny is and what all the ones with the c8 hardon are say is with the z51 or zo6 the corvette is almost unbeatable well the haven't considered or are turning a blind eye to is the GT500 is ready to go out of the box no waiting for the special performance version.

I was referring to the pre-embargo information where Jason Camissa leaked the 11.3 time. It was pretty evident to most rational people at that time that if the car could run even an 11.3 in those conditions, 10.x is a lock.

Anybody who really knows Corvettes knows that Z51 is a handling package on the base Corvette. Nothing more nothing less. And given that, it still manages to punch above its weight. Grand Sport is the lowest trim for a "driver's car" and Z06 is a straight up beast. Grand Sport and Z06 versions of C8 have not been introduced yet.

It's a mid engine car. It punches exactly where a mid engine would in perfect conditions with 500hp. As far as cost you're looking at around the same price as the GT500 with realistic specs you will see at most dealerships. GT500 will bludgeon it in every single area except maybe ride.

You martin are one of the level heads in the room. Quite frankly, Blaq in those forums dominates the discussions with his 100% blind loyalty and purchase justification issues.

From what i have read, those praising the GT500 are few and far between.

For those that care, the corvette is going to be an absolute menace stoplight to stoplight. Honestly, I think the GT500 is going to run very similar magazine times to the vette. Running sub 11 second 1/4 mile times on non VHT laced surfaces is not going to happen. At the track however, the GT500 is going to demolish the C8.

Right now, I'm VERY interested to see how the GT500 fares around a track. From all of the praise I've been hearing, I'm fully expecting the track pack to outpace the ZL1 1LE.

I appreciate the compliment. I try to shoot down the middle both there and here. Praise? Probably not a lot of that. Certainly no more praise there than there is for C8 over here. But there is clear acknowledgement that Ford nailed it. For the most part, the sentiment in the C8 vs GT500 thread on Camaro6 is...

They are who we thought they were.webp

There are some who will state...."but it took them 4 years". They're right, but not sure how much that matters
There are some who point out the cost differential to the ZL1 1LE, as well as withholding judgement until the two meet on the track. They're right, but until they meet on the track, it's GT500's day, just as it's been ZL1's day for a couple of years.

BlaqWhole doesn't speak for everyone at Camaro6

It should demolish the C8 Stingray. It might nip the C8 Grand Sport. It could get ugly facing the C8 Z06. I'm bringing popcorn to the first GT500 vs ZL1 1LE (what a name) track showdown.

I fully expect GM to come out swinging.

All true but as I said the GT500 is ready to go now at launch not next year with extra cost option package.

Oh they will. The Z06 and ZR1 will demolish everything except maybe a 720S and GT2RS.

Yes, and likely at supercar prices.
