Retired from GM
I doubt it will be an issue. The target market for Z06 is more focused on actual performance than raw hp numbers. The ME setup is showing that more of the available hp gets put to the ground and performance improves accordingly. If the 600 hp NA C8 Z06 outperforms the 650 hp C7 Z06 on the track the 50 lost ponies won’t be missed. The 495 hp C8 Stingray already out accelerates the C7 Z06 0-60 with 155 fewer hp and just gets clipped by the C7 Z06 at the quarter. Put 105 of those horses back in and the quarter mile looks a lot different.I would like that lineup. However, I have a really hard time believing the Z06 will be N/A and 600hp... Do you really think GM would make the Z06 have LESS horsepower than the previous generation? To me, that sounds like a marketing nightmare
So it comes down to “what is Tadge’s team doing to make the C8 Z06 better on the track?”. I am not going to be one to doubt that they can nail the track calibration.
