It has to be the tune pulling power, but he was seeing iat2's of 168 to 178.... I would have liked to run my car in the same conditions to see the difference, but i have yet to get tires....

Sound to me he raced it without cooling it off for a bit, drive to the track and relax. Hell a lot of shops r racing at events or a track rental when they put up ET’s

I say 1 gallon of 100 Mixed with 4 gallons of good 93, a tire and a cool evening at sea level or a bit above

Then see what the Roush runs

I feel like under 80* is where the Roush comes alive. Mine felt really sluggish in temps pushing 90* and above. Living in NH it’s not a big deal:)

My car can sit in the AZ sun all day long without being driven and when I start it up the IAT2 is at 140+. Covered parking helps *somewhat*, but not much. I could literally drive it to the track and let it sit till an hour after dark in the summer and it's still up there quite a bit.

From what I understand, the tune starts pulling power at 125 to 135 degrees.

Man I feel bad for the guys trying to race in hot climates. Ever since the start of the summer for me in Florida I’ve been doing mods to fight IAT2 temps. The only things keeping me from a 10.80 is a MT82 and a driver mod but the power is there on my roush kit. On a 94F day here in Bradenton FL I trapped my best at 127 mph. If had shifted better it would have been a 10 sec pass with probably higher trap speed. But I’ve done way more then the average person would do. I’ve entertained the phenolic spacers too, but I’m not lowering the engine and modding the FEAD bracket.

I feel like the only mod that one needs is some sort of a ice tank. Doing a spare tire well kit is over kill. Replacing the degas bottle isn’t enough (too little water flow unless you block off some hoses). The VMP tank for the 11 to 14 models is perfect. I didn’t see a picture for the 15 to 17 model. I would imagine it’s similar. Just have to drain some coolant out to make room for the ice then go race!

I can’t imagine running stock numbers. I went from stock to SC and the difference is night and day. Michigan doesn’t get very hot though.
What do you consider stock numbers? My Roush clearly made a difference.. Heatsoak or otherwise. No stock GT is hitting Motortrend numbers around here :)

Does that include the unleaded o2 and cats safe version too

If that’s the case then u just splash 100 unleaded
Yes.

Sunoco GT 260 race gas is 100 octane. Doesn't appear to have MMT.

Sunoco GT 260 Plus race gas is 104 octane. It has MMT.

Make sure you use the correct fuel.

Those numbers were at Bradenton this past weekend.... let me know if you head over there... I'd like to see your setup!

There is more to DA than temperature. Humidity and barometric pressure also contribute. Here in Minnesota, we often see 90s with high humidity. DA of 2500 - 3000 is common.

In those conditions on street tires, I typically ran 12.3s at around 115. I was unable to use drag mode on street tires due to horrific wheelspin and wheelhop on the 1-2 shift.

After getting DRs I was consistently in the high 11s although that was later in the fall in better air.

The above results were last year when I was stock. I now have a mild tune and run high 11s @ 118+ in 2500-3000 DA. We have an event coming up in a week and the DA should be very favorable. I am hoping for a new personal best.

I’m just talking about the difference in before and after on the street between when I was stock and then I added the sc. I didn’t think the stock gt in drag mode was fast enough. With all the talk around here I didn’t expect to be much faster. The difference exceeded my expectations by a long shot.

Going to the strip is a different experience. I’ve seen many z06’s run high 11’s or low 12’s. That’s a 10 sec car. There are Videos of red eyes right now getting beaten by bolt on stangs. Btw, that’s a low to kid 10 sec car. Takes time to dial a car in from a technique standpoint so I don’t take much stock in 1/4 mile times unless I know the driver has many passes with the car or is a recently experienced driver.

EXACTLY!!!!!!

I was thinking about this as I was getting into the shower tonight when someone mentioned the Killer Chiller. What a coincidence.
The ones that VMP had for the '11 to '14 Mustangs were the design that I think would work best! It's direct flow as opposed to the ice tank in the trunk.
I wonder how much cooler it would be with an ice tank like that and the Whipple oversized heat exchanger??

Do you really wanna carry and tub of ice bags, drain it every run and make a pass?
I mean now your getting into race car bs, I've had it with that crap, I would love for u guys to come to Atco late Oct...

I would bet a $50 at least 3 or 4 of you would run tens on a tire and the canned tune, Its seems unless u get to the start line under 130 IATS your doomed with this setup

Me, no personally. I'm taking about the others that want lower IAT's to run their Roush powered cars at the drag strip since the IAT's are hurting their cars performance. I'll never take my car to the track or drag strip. I'm content with it being a street machine. :muscle:
And,....if I want to make more power, I'd probably just go lower VMP pulley/93 octane VMP tune and a VMP triple pass heat exchanger if they make one for the '18/'19 cars, which I "assume" they will, or already have.

I thought about the same thing, but so big and heavy. Too bad.
