Gonna go out on a limb here. To keep the analogy accurate, I'll bet they might if a 1st class passenger asked them how they could mitigate the money they spent on the 1st class ticket.

Seems to me that unless someone spends less than $15k to live for the time they own the car, ADM mitigation is a non sequitur. But maybe someone can explain how money saved elsewhere didn't really offset other expenses as opposed to the ADM.
Maybe you have a point. If a 1st class passenger asked another 1st class passenger how they mitigated the cost of the ticket as peers the response would be well thought and more informative. Asking such a question to those who lack vision and have no idea of such strategies would likely cause less than intelligent responses. You are also right that spending $15k less during the time the car is owned is one option but it is not the only option. Savings and cost avoidance are not the same thing. We can all do things to avoid cost and still enjoy life. A very simple example is with the movies. You can take your family to the Matinee showing of a film instead of a prime time showing and pay less.
Hmm, I look at it as a one time expense to have what you want when you want it.

Again, congratulations on your success in life. If you want it, buy it, and don't look back or rationalize it.
Not looking back. I am looking forward and improving my finances forward of the major purchase. To buy a car that is basically a gas guzzling toy is inherently irrational and even at MSRP would be ilogical to try to rationalize. Let the car go in this example and think about the additional money spent to obtain it. If we all made it a habit to throw money out of the window on things and not plan for it the result is a very bad financial planning. That is all this thread is meant to discuss is the financial planning of buying the car with an ADM and what can be done about it. Sure trolls are going to come out and Negative Nancy's are going to say it is not possible but I have already given several examples that reduce the impact of the money spent. What do you have to add to the discussion? If you have nothing then just simply move along to another thread. If this is a thread that is not for you then go in peace. I am not looking for congrats on my success in life I am looking for an open discussion on cost mitigation strategies that we can all use for buying this car and just have some fun doing so.

Here is another good mitigation strategy. If you live near a big city and ride share is available it is a good opportunity to reduce your commuting expenses. Does anyone have any ride share stories to tell and how much it can save over the long term. Ride share is an option available to me and I am seriously considering it. The organization I work for encourages it and will even pay the ride share fees but I have never joined one and don't know the ups and downs associated with them. Now that I am purchasing this car I have an increased interest in the ride share option.

My take on it is, you buy me a car, I don't care how much you paid for it, thank you. I buy me a car, I care very much how much I pay for it.

Well if we are going to look at it that way, I didn't pay anything for me and my wife to sit in business class. Perhaps I didn't pay anything, but I didn't save anything either.....

How does a dealer handle the ADM charge, does he add it to the cost of the car or is it a service fee? If you pay a $15,000 ADM are there any other taxes or fees attached to it?

The ADM is supposed to be added on the bill of sale and is taxable. It is illegal for them to help you avoid taxes on the ADM. That brings up another opportunity to avoid additional cost. If you are in a high tax state like me in CA where vehicle tax is 10 percent and you legally have the option to register the car in another state you can avoid a significant cost. I live in CA but am legally recognized as a non-resident. I register my cars in my home state where the tax rate is much lower. Doing so reaps a several thousand dollar cost avoidance to mitigate the cost of the ADM :) Those who are in that situation can't take delivery of the car in CA to avoid the CA tax in that situation so it is also a hassle to get by with it.

Like some have said, quit trying to justify any ADM. if you can afford it, witch is between you and your family, go for it. If you know a way to recoup it best to you. If you need to finance an ADM, you probably shouldn’t. I say the same about modding your car” don’t go and finance a supercharger “ you probably can’t afford it.
We’ve all paid too much for entertainment items. Some will pay thousands for a super bowl ticket, World Series, concert tickets, even casino gambling. It’s a luxury some can afford and some can not. Some will pay too much for a piece of property/house to be in the nice side of town. This GT 500 is nothing more than a luxury item for entertainment. I have yet to figure out why people get so bent out of shape on how other spend their money??

1 purchase should not be the reason your just now trying to calculate expenses.

Although, if 1 large purchase is the catalyst that gets members to re evaluate their spending, then good.

The best strategy is also the hardest. Patience. Its hard because we don't know for sure how many years of production there will be.

Recouping the amount of the ADM is not Justifying it. Just discussing innovative ways to recoup the money spent without much effort like the ride share idea. No more no less.

What's the bottle deposit fee in CA? Like 10 or 15 cents? I imagine if you collect enough bottles or cans.....

Please read the initial post. I stated that I planned to but the GT500 years before it came out. I was preparing for it from the start. I didn't expect to pay the $15K ADM as I was able to get my GT350 at MSRP. I make educated decisions about my finances and I rarely come out with the short end of the stick. I did this time for the tune of $15K and I am not trying to justify it I already sent the dealership $15k as my deposit the ADM has already been paid. This thread was meant to help other with ideas to make the ADMs less painful for them financially but as always the majority of people who are posting are not even odering the car. At this point I won't even return to view this thread since I would do better to do an online survey with the time I am spending on this thread and at least get paid a little something for my time.

Not efficient Tommy. You can do better with participating in online surveys from the comfort of your lounge chair and make lots more just for fun. Stocks do very well also but thats no fun it is overkill for a $15k mitigation plus keeping that money in stocks does more for you by keeping it in stocks.
