I have 2018 Mustang GT with the 6-speaker base stereo and sync 1.

The factory speakers were terrible, so I installed a set of Pioneer D-series using the factory wiring. I did not install a sub woofer. I was also getting terrible bass from the rear deck. The new speakers are a little better, but nothing as good as the doors. yet, the rear deck speakers are also Pioneer D-series 6.5's.

Anyway, I thought the programming settings for the 727-01-02 block would be 0300 - 34, but it's not.

I'm getting 0100 - 32.

To equalize the signal, I'm not sure what settings to give it. I thought it was supposed to be 0000, but not sure what to do now.

Any suggestions?

Also, if I change it to 0000, some say I MUST run an aftermarket amp. Why?

I thought the aftermarket speakers could easily handle the extra bass.

This has been discussed many times. To disable factory EQ you only change the first two hex numbers to zero. Leave all other digits alone. If you changed other bits, you should set them to what they used to be. Hopefully you wrote down the original settings.
727-01-02 - 00xx "Disables Factory EQ Processing" (don't mess with xx or change anything else)

OK, I did some tinkering with that value. I went ahead and changed block 727-01--02 from 0100 - 32, to 0000 - xx.

Here's the thing. When I changed the value to 0000 and hit "write". It saved that value, but automatically changed the second value of 32, to 31.

Now, it reads 0000 - 31.

Why is that?

(btw, the rear deck speakers now have a noticeable increase in bass output. Everything does sound more crisp and clear.)

That number at the end of the block is the checksum. It will change depending on the values of all the other bits for that address.
You're all set now.

Thanks. I just got confused, but all seems pretty darn good now.

I've thought about adding an amp and maybe even a sub, so then I'll have to adjust the line level outs, but for now, I'm just going to enjoy it as is.

Questions on this:

- Does removing the factory EQ also disable driver/occupancy mode or affect it in any way?
- I assume the settings can be changed back to the original factory settings without permanently affecting things? In other words, if I don't like the new settings, will changing back to the old settings restore the factory EQ unchanged?

Mine still seems to have it. But the audible difference seems to be a lot less. Personally, I like it set for everyone, because just changing the EQ to zero really opened up everything from the rear, which is what I wanted to begin with. I didn't spend all that money and effort installing new rear deck speakers, only to have them neutered.

Also, does disabling the factory EQ change the crossover points? I have the 401a with sub. If I disable the factory EQ, is the sub going to be full range now? That would be bad.

I would dig into the sub itself, and look for some capacitors. My system, a base stereo, had the crosover caps in the door drivers and tweeters respectively. Replacing them with the Pioneer D-series had caps already in place for direct replacement.
So, I "think" your sub probably has it's own crossover setup built in, but honestly don't know for sure.

I should've mentioned that I replaced the stock sub with an RF Punch. I don't remember there being any crossovers.

If that's the case, then it may be programmed digutally for that channel, or it has a crossover built into the oem amp. I honestly don't know.

Although, I will add something. Let's say the sub signal is somehow changed to full range, then there ways to analyze the signal. A stereo shop could easily hook up and check it for you. Or, if you have an extra 2 or 3 way 6x9 high power driver lying around, just hook it up, and listen to it.

A full range signal is what you want. Use the low pass filter on the sub amp.

I know. That is best. I think he is concerned that changing everything to 0 in Forscan might affected settings in the sub amp. Although, I don't think it would.
