Did a search and didn't find much. I have a question as to the stereo differneces between the Base and Premium editions (ignoring the $1795 sub/blindspot package).

In the prior generation the base stereo was really short on base (and Boss 302)--NO door speakers with woofers.

Has that changed with the 15+?

Looking for a holdover GT (it will take at least 2-3 yrs gor a GT350R to reach the Cali market at a sane(?) level of ADM. Thus looking for a "driver" GT that will be sold in 2+ yrs (yeah I'll lose my shirt in depreciation, so be it)...so NO interest in modding the stereo...keeping it stock, just trying to figure out is stock base is "ok"?

Thanks!

I have a premium GT (no subwoofer upgrade) and am satisfied with the bass. It is obviously not as great as some of my past cars with fully modified sound and subs but for a stock system it is far above average on all lower, mid, and upper ranges. I had a nostalgic moment this afternoon and blasted Usher's Yeah! And my wife was even impressed with the quality of the bass.

all stereos ,even the super premium unit is not that great. Get a base radio and wait for the aftermarket.

As I said for stock it's better than average. I see no point in aftermarket stereo for a mustang get an aftermarket exhaust and your stereo will never be on :D

I have a base GT and I don't think the stereo is all that good. Not much punch, but then I didn't expect it to be terrific and don't really care. If you want lots of bass you'll need an amp and better speakers. I think trunk mounted subs are pretty much unnecessary in a car.. Just so you know where I'm coming from ;)

Couldn't agree more! I'd rather listen to my exhaust any day of the week.

+1, I think the base stero is fine for what it is. But a lot of people on here hate even the premium one so idk

I know this is an old thread, the base radio lacks a ton of mid range and low bass. I have had two s550s one with the shaker pro, and my new one just the premium shaker system, my buddy has just the base GT, and the base "premium" has a far greater richer sound due to the amp and speaker setup. Not as bumping as the pro but very full clean bass. The stock base radio and speakers is very hollow sounding, it is good if you like talk radio but thats about it.

Adding a small sub box with amp would help but it needs an amped set of good speakers for the base unit.

With the non Pro shaker system, you really only need to add a sub box and amp if you want more thumping, the highs and mid range are pretty good as well as stock bass response with that setup as well the volume is good with the stock amp.

Have the best of both. You can buy a tune for street cars that do this too. Can't get this AND ghost cams though.
