So Guildford haven't improved. I bought mine from them 3 years ago and wasnt happy about the delivery condition, and even less happy about service performance and attitude to issues. Incompetent and arrogant is how I described them. I switched to their Farnborough branch and have been relatively happy since (although they did apparently put the wrong oil in once!). At Farnborough the manager and staff seem to care, unlike Guildford.

Yours is such a clear case of damage caused by them, and during their attempt to make good defects, I would proceed straight to a solicitors letter stating you will be getting corrective work done else where at their expense. cc the letter to Ford HQ. Your photos are damning.

Meanwhile after three re-gasses they have admitted mine has a leaky evaporater.

Thank you guys for such valuable advise. I'll speak to a solicitor on Monday.
Any recommendations of a solicitor who knows how to deal with arrogant new car dealers in and around my area (MK/Newport Pagnell).

I am quite eager to know what Gtechniq says about remedial action of paint. Will let you know how it goes on Monday afternoon.

I wouldn't waste your money on one for now. Do your own research and go through the correct channels. I believe they have a right to try and correct the issue first

That is totally crap advise!

Any good solicitor will do the initial work for free...

You have nothing to lose by talking to a lawyer and everything to lose from listening to bad advice...

It's naive to think a decent solicitor is going to work for nothing, they'll present the free initial advice to be vague to get you to pay. To immediately get a solicitor involved is not always necessary, if you do some research. Once you have tried all channels if you are still not getting anywhere then "go legal innit".

I agree - no solicitor will work for nothing

however they all need to initially, do a risk assessment - i.e. - "if I take this case up - will i win? and will I get paid?"

You certainly have a very naive and biased view of our legal profession!

When you engage a solicitor - they will discuss the potential with you (they are doing a risk assessment here) - if they believe that they can win (and be paid) then they will take the case and proceed

So
To engage a solicitor (initially) will cost you absolutely nothing and you actually have nothing to lose by doing so!

To vaguely "hope for the best" is probably not a good idea either

...by all means do as Mark says

but I suggest that doing both in parallel will save you time!

Oh dear. You don't engage a solicitor for free, all they do is give you a few minutes initial chat. To not do the leg work first and just ask a solicitor to start firing off letters is likely going to cost you and you could have probably got to the same stage on your own with a bit of research, especially if Ford are willing to make a without prej offer. Lets be honest, unless you pay serious money you're unlikely to be getting the top lawyers against Ford. Are you on a marketing drive or looking for some extra commission? Who said to "vaguely hope for the best?"

So do I...

plus my father was a solicitor...
Oh...and my eldest daughter owns a law practice

And no .. I am not on commission etc

I just think it makes sense to understand who, what, why, how and when .... legally (at no cost) at the same time as following up yourself...

I suspect we will have to agree to differ here....

Who would have doubted you with such well informed constructive comments as "totally crap advise"

"Any good solicitor will do the initial work for free..." - I think you'll find any good solicitor in demand will do very little for free

Guys, had a paint inspection with Gtechniq at their studios in Northampton. They have advised Full Correction as marrings is densely spread across the body. Full correction for a car like Stang is 4 days - 33 hours and will cost ÂŁ1155 (excl VAT). Any product (serum or so) on top of it will be extra (I am happy to fund this part). They have taken paint readings and its bit uneven on the surfaces, say on bonnet - it ranges from 116 to 130 (depends on how much dealer valeteer has cut. Seems, they have used rotary 3m polisher to do the mop-up.

I'll be given a inspection report and advisory correction process/quote tomorrow for dealer. Unfortunately, the next earliest slot available for correction is in mid August (considering auto shows etc, its the busiest time for any serious detailer). I have booked the slot tentatively.

Dealer will definitely say NO to fund the entire cost of correction in the first instance considering its ÂŁ1000+. Guys, could you please advise how should I play with this, so as to get the full or near to full cost of paint correction funded by them? I should pick the way to battle which has more probability to win.

I havent spoken to dealer yet, just waiting for paint inspection report.

This is the result (dense marrings in photos) what when they tried to fix initial marrings (followed by lifeshine application on a new paint). They had their one chance.

Apologies for the confusion.
