@stiggy is our resident car detail perfectionist, he's got a whole step by step guide on how he did it @SpArKy
LOL! I'd prefer a more mechanical accolade Manders, but thanks anyway :)

Bear in mind that my initial paint correction/seal was done as I didn't want the dealer to prep it. Like your local car wash, they tend to do more harm than good.

Now it's got its 'bodyarmour' on, cleaning is much, much easier. I drove to Le Mans and back in almost constant rain, the car still looked cleaner than most upon my return - it's so hydrophobic the water just streams off.

Now my cleaning routine is as above. The only pain are the wheels due to the design (I hate multi spokes!), but as they've been waxed it's no real chore. I highly recommend woolies wheel brushes (set of 3). Make it much easier especially around the calipers, though I still find I need to move the car forward a bit to complete the wheel.

oh, and what care needs to be taken around the stripes? i assume i need to leave it a little while before washing? but being white they are already starting to look a little grubby :(
Stripes are vinyl, so you need to take a bit of care to ensure you don't scrub them, but fine to clean in the same manner as the paintwork. Also, if you polish, mask them up at the edges (about 5mm away) so you don't end up with a line of white polish residue which is an absolute bu99er to get off again!

Always worth a post from 'the other side';

1 bucket
1 sponge
1 wheel brush
1 hose
microfibre cloths

Wash it. Drive it.

6 monthly clay & polish.

Sorry guys... if I do all that stuff you guys do... the Mrs'll make me do her Mini!

I just get the wife to wash the cars... 'bad back' - hurts to bend down and try washing the sides or stretching over the roof, 'dodgy knees' - can't get down to wash the wheels... and anyway... she's shorter than me and thus closer to the ground and can get to all those hard to reach areas, and she's got more experience than me with washing stuff and operating the vacuum cleaner :) !

Mine currently smells like burnt rubber :p

Use a bit of lube (5W/40 engine oil will also work)!

I said rubber not jizz
Ahhh... OK... when you said 'burnt rubber'... thought it might just be you're burning your love socks on the hot exhaust...

Will get flamed but my car has been washed 4 times since 22nd June and not by me. A company near me does an amazing job, they use snow foam lance, spray water, then fibre mitts wash then fine water spray, they know not to use ANY chemicals on my car then they dry with mamouth towels etc, cost £6 I give them £7. Car has Diamond Brite treatment and in a years time I will have proper paint correction if any swirls but there aren't any at the moment. I have bought 2 buckets with grit gaurds, top mitt and loads of poor boys stuff but I purely don't have the time to do it myself at the moment.

Jesus... the cheapest place over here that does anything like that charges £20... so for that sort of wash for £6... I'd be there every weekend!
