Inside Hood release

Just hit 600 miles: The weather here in NC turned nice. I alway lift my hood when I get back from a ride to cool the motor, works great. However the inside hood release is very hard to pull, not much of a handle to begin with. I was wondering how this handle comes off so I can make something with a better grip.
Recommendations?

Installation instructions come with the handle, but i recall using a small socket to depress the tangs - came off in about 5 seconds.

I got one in black last year for my 2015. It feels much more sturdy than the stock plastic handle and I love the shape of the lever, it’s easier to grab and pull with one hand.

The stock handle is surprisingly flimsy. Not that it would break but it flexes. Sometimes it's about perception and the tactile aspect that makes us like things. I have the Steeda handle and like it.
