'04 Ram 1500, '65 FFR Cobra
i was at the strip last month. great DA at 90, stock hellcat (NOT demon) running 10.9's, another with tune and pulley running 10.2's (NOT demon). Both on DR's.

Why are people still comparing this car to a demon. Both Ford and Mopar fans alike. They are not competing models.

That is most incorrect. I do believe Motortrend and/or Car & Driver couldn't get one to go quicker then a mid 11 off the show room floor.
Well shit. Everyone knows motortrend. Is the last word in drag racing. :crazy:

Nothing special here! GT 500.SLOW!! 4+ years and this is the best they can come up with? No wonder FORD stock is in the signal digits

Any idea what's involved to get a Demon to run 9's It ain't that easy. The demon right off the showroom floor is like a 11 second car.
Basically installing a factory backed crate kit, wheels, tires, aero, tune, etc. oh. And it also requires racing filial to get the claimed power after the remap is selected.

It’s not a car that you “run what ya brung”

If you did similar to the gt500, you’d see similar gains.

As it is, the 500 has had KR models in the past that upgraded actual engine performance. This is unlike R model mustang Gt350s of late which have incorporated slight handling upgrades and lightweighting.

I don’t see Ford offering a wheel/tire/aero pack as you can do that via aftermarket (and the 500 has aero covered) without Ford having to navigate tricky warranty issues.

But... I definitely see an upmodel tier car with some engine performance improvements. The car will launch with one model likely. With the king reserved surprise the guys who are waiting to surprise the 500 at launch. Until then, perhaps a white key slight remap chip for the launch car.

That's with the optional Demon Crate.
If remember correctly it was hot, with high humidity and they never ran official timers, an in car performance recorder said 11 flat (which is probably slower then an official timer). You do not need the crate to run in the 10s. The crate is what gets you in the Skinnies, and race gas too. Which is going to get you those last few tenths. The GT500 will be fast at everything.

Per Speed Phenom on YouTube, there will be around 5,000 built per year. Carbon Fiber Track Pack will be more than $10k. Also car will weigh more than 3,800 lbs
Is he a reliable ford source? I thought it was a given it’d weigh over 3800! I’d be thrilled if it’s under 4K.

Point being. To run 9's with a Demon isn't as simple as you think. To run sub 11's with the GT500, IS as simple as you think. Demon is excellent at one thing, MUSTANGS are very good at everything.
Sorry for derailing, but it just irks me when the trolls say "well the Demon runs 9's". Big. Fkn. Deal.
