Compared with the other’s member recent oil changed at 3000 miles.

His copper content was 7. My is unusually high.

I must be lucky then. The tick is harmless per this oil analysis.

Oil result first 3,000 miles. What do you guys think ?
I take it the oil has been changed once before this oil was used since the UOA says it's 5W-30?

Iron might be a little high because things are still breaking in, but the high copper seems abnormal to me.

I had requested the dealer to put 5w30 when they installed the new long block.

So if that is the initial break-in oil, then the somewhat high iron is probably normal. If iron and copper don't go down in another 3000 miles then I'd say that's not normal wear behavior.

So, it's obvious Ford thinks it's perfectly fine for us to run 5w30. Go figure. I should have started running quality 5w30 when I first bought it. I honestly think that 5w20 MC is garbage oil, and may have even contributed to the tick problem.

a random metallic ticking would show up as smoke ,,oil consumption, lower gas mileage and loss of power ...nope nope nope and nope for 99% of people reporting problems...let alone people who dont
2016 gt with the BBQ tick, gas mileage is 12.2 mpg, power is 337 completely stock. I would say I fall under that category of wtf.

I fall under 2 of 3. My car burns oil, gets horrible mileage (11-12 MPG) but still feels fast AF. The thing breaks the tires loose when I gun it in 1st from a roll and I have 305 width Michelin pilot super sports.
Yea with 305s on a roll, you got good power. F my car. ..lol

At this point. The oil test indicated the tick is harmless. The oil analysis give me a peace of mind. I’ll continue to enjoy and drive the Mustang. Will send it for next oil test to see if metal contents decrease.

Holy crap, dude. 12mpg on 93? I don’t even get that low with E85.

My is high with iron (24) and copper (24) contents. Univeral averages for iron is 19 and copper 3

Iron – Mostly comes from Cylinder liners, Rings, Crankshaft, Camshaft, Rods, Valve Train, Oil pump gear, Wrist pins, cast iron components and Gears. Usually found as fine particles due to abrasion or wear.

Copper – Usually like a soft metal present in Main and Rod Bearings, Oil Cooler core, Clutch plates, Brass and Bronze bushings and Roller bearing outer cage. In engines it should be due to the water pump leak or coolant core. If it is found along with potassium, sodium and glycol, it will be coming from the oil cooler. If it is found along with lead and tin, it will be coming from bearing or bushing.

This sound like an indication of crankshaft bearing is grooved ? Same as the first engine.
Any engine will show higher than normal wear metals for the first 10k miles, including silicone as a by product of the manufacturing process. Use same oil and test after 10k miles and that will be a better indicator of engine wear metals as well as silicone making it through.
