Hello friends, I am back once again with one of these threads.

I was a former S550 owner. My beautiful Lightning Blue Mustang was lost in Hurricane Nathan (while I was driving). It was one of the hardest moments of my life and I cried like a baby. Instead of pursuing another Mustang, I went out and pursued the Type R. A car I really enjoyed, but lacked the soul that the Mustang had. That, and it's tough to own a true track car, and never really appreciate it (to appreciate it, you have to basically go to jail). It lacked the soul and for some reason, the Mustang always felt like it epitomized me (as strange as it is).

So, in a financial decision that doesn't really make sense, I told my wife Mustang or no, I'm getting it. The Mustang was something I was so prideful about. Between the, "That's a stupid Ford," the "You have a small dick," and the "You spend too much." I didn't care. It just made me happy.

I originally opposed the new redesign, but I've grown to like it and appreciate it (the headlights still feel a bit off to me). I had a 2017 GT with PP (no premium). I wanted the next model to be as close to loaded as possible. I have a few questions for everyone, and would love some help!

1. Will my winter wheels for my 2017 fit a 2018-2019 model?
2. Any must haves for the 2018? Anything that's different? Feel? Driving? I know the power is increased. MPG? Anything you can think of, let me know. So far, I haven't really been happy with the YT reviews I've seen in terms of explaining differences.
3. I have a few dealers next to me that have the match of GTs I want (Black, manual, PP and premium) that are 2018s. What is the best deal for these? I feel like with winter on the horizon and 19s on the lot, there should be a fair amount of wiggle room?
4. Is there ANYWAY to remove the spoiler on the PP models. Why? Oh why did Ford add that? It just looks so extra.

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping to rejoin the community.

Welcome back. I traded my 15’ GT premium non PP, M6 last November for a 2009 C6 Corvette. My GT transmission was super notchy to the point I was irritated driving it.

I always wanted a Corvette so I finally got one. After about 6 months of owning the car I lost interest in it. It was a nice car but not right for me. In the last few months I hardly ever drove it.

I started to want another Mustang GT. If I was going to get one it would have to be a 18’ or 19’ for the up grades over a 15-17’s

My must have were 10A transmission, PP, Magneride and active valve exhaust. Picked one up last Friday. Drove up to Koons Ford in Baltimore, MD from Florida with my C6 and traded for a 18’ GT with all the options I mentioned in Ingot silver. It also came with the 301A (required to get Magneride) navigation and the security package. I didn’t want the last 2 but it came with it. With Fords rebates and Koons discount I got about 9K off.

The car is night and day difference from my 15’. I’ll be keeping this car for many many years.

I just got an 18 GT base, manual transmission. I came from 2 Camaros- a 5th and 6th Gen and also a WRX. I love the GT- I bought it over another new Camaro (with M/T) and even over a C7. The shifting of the MT-82 transmission with the dual mass fly wheel is flawless and I just love the way the rev's drop for effortless shifting. I read about problems with them being notchy, broken shift forks, etc. Mine must be a good one, no issues, no notchiness, the car tracks laser straight, great steering feel. I never had a Mustang, was always a Camaro fan but after 2 test drives I just bought it. And the MPG, wow for a 460 HP car with the sound and power, I average 25 MPG (on 87 regular) and it keeps climbing as the car breaks in. I don't rev it to 7K RPM all the time but once in a while will have spirited take off and rev it through the gears. By comparison my 2011 SS got 16 on 93 octane and my 2017 Camaro got 27 with the V6. I could not be happier with the car.

I almost ended up with a Type R, but I didn't want to wait. Instead, I got the Accord because the Mustang filled the happiness of everything else I could ask for. Owning two sports cars and both manuals, I wanted the Accord with the 10-speed.

Yes, I don't think you have to get that hideous wing if you don't want to. I think there's a spoiler delete option and I'd take that all day long.

OP, just one piece of advice for you. Try and find your happiness within yourself. Nothing wrong with getting a car you enjoy but if that is the only way to find mental peace in your life, you need to work on that. It could lead you down a rabbit hole of "bad" financial decisions in pursuit of the happiness you crave.

As for your questions, as long as you don't get a PP car, then the 2017 winter wheels work fine. If you do get a PP car, then unless the winter wheels were on a 2017 PP car, the fronts might not work.

OP, this is a car forum, not a self-help site, and they're called "personal issues" for a reason. We're here to have fun, talk cars, and have fun, in that order.

Talk Mustangs with us, great, we love it. Leave your worries at the door, and then pick them back up as you head out.

Hey, that was a little harsh, but I get what you mean. Sometimes though it is in the delivery, not the intent :-).

OP, although Nova lacks a bit of empathy for your troubles (in this forum anyway), I suggest that you can still get out of the discussions some fulfillment without putting your heart on your sleeve. Just form your questions and discussions on topics about Mustangs (other cars etc) with what will help your healing process. No need to get too deep into your state of mind to accomplish that.

With all that said, I hear your pain and hope you can overcome it, As Poncho said above, you may need to broaden your net with things that can fill your life beyond a car. In any event, I hope discussing your future Mustang helps you out.

Believe me, the car is a tiny piece of that but it's something I incredibly enjoyed.

My 17 was a PP. So I should be good.

Hard to understand a response like this. I can understand it, but then again, I can't. It's simple human nature to show compassion, but I guess much easier to be a keyboard warrior and not.

That being said, I edited the original post to be more in line with the focus of the forum and not me. I'd hate to be too personal here.

It's a frustrating response as the intent was to humanize the situation as well as show my love and passion for the car. Clearly, that wasn't put over well in the message. I did expect a sort of response like that, but it is what it is

As I said, the Mustang isn't my only take to happiness and it's a financial burden I can readily accept. My wife isn't entirely thrilled but I'm sure if it came with 32 doors and 1200 feet of space she would be.

I modified the post to hopefully remove any further negativity and focus on my questions. I'd prefer to miss this community, rather than be strangely pushed away because I attempted to humanize myself.

Meds. Cocaine. Same stuff right!? Asking for a friend.

I sincerely hope you have friends and family you can lean on during tough times, we all need that. I'm not a warrior, I have the need to lean on others from time to time. I'm just of the considered opinion that public forums aren't the place for deep, personal sharing.

She's so pretty though. Haha hahahaha.
I don't care how pretty the girl is, if she calls my penis small, I'm done. That can only mean she's stuffing a 2 liter bottle in there. I mean, how can I compete with that?!

Fut that noise man. If you have no kids, Now is the time to bail.

OP - don't listen to the haters. You decided to share some of your personal thoughts and I for one welcome it. If a few people don't want to read your posts they don't have to.

Welcome back to the Mustang! And I hope you enjoy this one for years to come. My 2015 has become a part of me and after I wrecked part of my rear suspension I almost considered jumping ship to get a 2018. I'm so glad I didn't because this car means a lot to me and I've done a lot to make it the way I like it. I think also with Mustangs - one of the reasons people buy them and keep buying them is the comradery with fellow Mustang owners.
