Except they aren't. The M240i Xdrive will give up a good bit in straight line performance (almost a quarter of a second slower to 60, a massive gap in that metric) and be significantly slower around a track, all while having less amenities than a $50k mustang and costing more. The stinger is just nowhere near the performance of a Mustang. IIRC, the record 1/4 mile time for ANY stock Kia Stinger is 12.9... That's over a second slower than the Mustang's current stock record. Also, when tested same driver same day same track, the Kia was, IIRC, 10 seconds slower than just a PP1 mustang! It's a good start for Kia, but really not a contender for the mustang, moreso for the Cadillac ATS
You're right from a strictly numbers standpoint. The KIA really isn't even in the same category as a sedan. However, if you are looking for a realistic "don't go to jail" high performance daily driver they stack up pretty well. Most people will never ever go to the track. I've test driven the BMW (not the KIA) and while it seemed pretty fun it definitely lacked a certain something (for me). I couldn't put my finger on exactly what. I guess my larger point is that at $50K the Mustang and Camaro no longer stand alone.

I get what you're saying, but as someone who DOES take their car to the track and doesn't daily drive it, there really isn't a better car for the price point. If you're looking to get performance anywhere near that of a PP2 or 1LE in a platform of a similar size, you're going to be looking upwards of $70k at the M4 and such.

Cool. So you can send me a check for $50k, today, and not even miss it, right moneybags?

No, you can't. This statement is just as stupid as the one I quoted above. But I appreciate it as it's allowing me to figure out who here is a car enthusiast and who here has no clue what they are talking about. So please, continue.....
You have nothing. No counter, no debate, just insults and sarcasm.

Mustangs are cheap cars.

The end.

$50k is not alot of money? Lol When you start pricing regular run of the mill GT's in the $50k range, They better be top quality because youre in a whole new bracket of cars in that price range. Ford's quality control is still their worst problem. $50k car with $15k car quality is a no no
No, $50K isn't a lot of money in today's new car market. And that's very cheap in comparison to other cars in the market segment.

Price, quality and content. Pick 2 of the 3 because you can't have all three. Ford sacrifices quality to give great price and content. You want quality? O.k., Ford will need to add $10K to the Mustang's price.

They should probably just go ahead and do it, and price the whiners out of owning their cars.

Seriously, no one should buy a FORD and complain about it's quality. Ford's have been shit quality cars for decades now, you should know what you're buying.

#1 reason why I didn't get a 2018. I was able to get a loaded up '17 for $36,000. To me, that's a bargain for $ to performance. Yes, it is a Ford and I didn't expect perfect quality in a performance vehicle.

Spending $50,000 on a Ford car is just crazy. F-150 might be the best option to drop that kind of money on since that's their pride and joy of profit so it's probably the best built Ford.

If I was going to own a track rat, I wouldn't spend that kind of money. You can build serious track monsters for far cheaper than $50k. Unless you're going to tell me that you want the leather seats, Shaker system, etc. etc. for the track.

Well if you can "buy A LOT more than a GT", then do it and quit bitching. If you bought the Mustang, I assume you bought it for a reason, and that reason is that it offers unbeatable performance for the price. Therefore, I assume you're bright enough to assume that the low price point doesn't come without some trade-offs.
Easy there kiddo, you're going to blow a gasket.

I didn't brag, I defended myself against a stupid comment. You don't get in a positive financial position by making poor decisions. The comment that "The only reason someone didn't buy xxxxx (insert highest level of ANY CAR EVER MADE) is because they can't afford it", "The only reason someone wouldn't like xxxxx (same thing) is because they can't afford it" is stupid and has been around since the internet.

I bought my car because I liked it. I didn't buy it because Jesus himself put it together and it is without fault. Is it the best performance bargain out there? Not even close. Best performance bargain would be a Fox with about $20k to spend on it.

I bought my car, as I said, because I liked it. The style was nice and it was comfortable for someone my size (I'm 6'9". Not many sports cars are going to handle that.). I wanted a Challenger Hellcat for a blend of power and room, but I passed on it because I owned a 2014 Challenger R/T and it fell apart at 40k miles. I drive a ton and wanted something I wouldn't have in the shop all the time.

Any idiot who says $50k is not a lot of money is the one with their head up their rear. Someone even bought up "Price a fully loaded Camry". Ok. A fully loaded, XLE Camry new on the lot is $30k. So you're $20k off. It's not the same kind of car, so the comparison is stupid. I bought one for the wife about six months back. Great car, zero issues, etc. Everything you expect from a Toyota. BUT...it has ZERO fun factor really, at least for me.

I also bought the Mustang because it's about the 31st one I've owned. I've seriously lost count. I like Mustangs for the sound, look, and I USED TO like them for the community. In person, it seems to be pretty much a bunch of cool guys/gals getting together, hanging out, etc. The online forums though have always been some of the worst places on the internet (Stangnet, SVTPerformance, etc.). I thought I'd give this one a try and it seems like it's pretty good, spare a couple of people who represent the typical BS.

Speaking the truth about the car you own isn't "bitching". You forget, the OP asked for opinions and as an owner of an '18 I have a right to give mine. The fact that you don't like it doesn't mean I'm "bitching".

I really hope when people are throwing out this 50k they are just talking MSRP and not what they paid lol, My 50,070 msrp gt cost me 39k... well 39,860 so closer to 40k. BUT my friends Focus RS2 cost him 43k so i do feel i got a much better car performance wise for the dollar. I personally dont know anyone that pays sticker for a ford. but im sure they are out there especially when they first come out. i know some RS guys that paid 10-15k ADM and walked out with 55k focus's. In the new car world i dont think 40-50k is "expensive" I came from a 30k Scion FRS (auto and all the stupid dealer add ons and extended warranty) to a 27k Focus ST3, to my 39k GT with everything except bliss and the auto. To me the GT is every bit of a beter car, and while ill go down in the garage and wipe it down every other day, im not that anal about a "panel gap" or the BBQ tick thats been around since the gen 1 coyote.

I think and its just my opinion, that if you feel the car you bought, any car, is "expensive" then you may be out reach on what is really affordable to you. A Merc GTr a ZL1 1LE things like that are "expensive" to me which is why i dont own one. Im hoping my next purchase in a few years they will be "affordable" and just the same as buying the car i have now.

Everyone has their own opinion of what is expensive to them...it's all relative.

However, I know a lot of guys who own Ferrari's and other exotics who would DEFINITELY say their cars are expensive, and they are multi-millionaires many times over. So I don't think you can say if someone owns a car and they think it's expensive, they can't afford it.

$50k is expensive, to me, for a Mustang that doesn't have "Shelby" written on it.

And i know a lot of guys living here in Vegas that treat their exotics like toys, because they are toys to them. but like you said its relative.. Again, i hope you didnt pay 50k or even close to sticker for yours, if so im sorry about that. I know location matters though. some places give much better deals. my car sat on the lot for ever because no one wanted to pay the 50k they was asking lol

Having spent my whole life in the car industry, I don't spend sticker for ANYTHING, much less markup.

I got a "great deal" on the car on the last Saturday of the month at a volume dealer. My MSRP was $47k. I paid A LOT less thanks mostly due to the fact that I purchase a lot of Ford parts bulk through my dealer for my business and have a great working relationship with them.

However, when you look at what cars cost...MSRP is what you go by because, although most people won't pay it, that is officially the price.

Obviously some missing items here to get that down 15K from MSRP.

I don't like to name numbers, but you quoted it before I edited my post to keep anyone from getting all bent out of shape.

As I've said, I have a very close working relationship with my dealer. When you buy $250k+ in parts every year, you tend to get perks. In addition, I also have a Texas Automobile Dealer's License so the price goes even further down and tax gets thrown out the window.

ALSO, this thread needs to get back on track. Maybe one day I'll start a "Ask Blue_Thunder Anything" thread and all the forum tough guys can go to it and try to make themselves sound smart. It's not likely to happen, but this thread is not about me despite what the last PAGE of comments might make some think.

2018 Orange Fury Mustang GT Premium A10 w/ PP1.
Bought my 2018 GT Premium 2 months ago, it's at 4600 miles and been at the service 2 times for the following:

1. Car stalled while in motion(this is an A10 btw) at around 2200 miles. Supposedly fixed with a TSB update, Ford service said it threw a P0316 as well
2. Driver side door tweeter blew, this was at 1000 miles.

Despite my best judgement, I love the car and figured that all that was just me being unlucky. So I got it Lund tuned, E85R and installed a Steeda IRS subframe brace. Car HAULS now but now I got a new set of issues:

1. Every few days the car will throw a P0316/P0300 on cold starts due because E85
2. Every now and then I get a RPM surge at idle, like 550RPM - 850RPM. Tuner says thats to be expected lol.

And while the A10 is a great transmission it only has 2 "modes": "D" mode = Anemic, econobox feel. "S" mode = VIOLENT NECK BREAKING SHIFTS + douche mode AKA revmatches from 10th down to 3rd gear when applying brakes. Fun for the first day but it gets old after that unless you're on track. Paddle shift mode is a decent inbetween but shifts are quite slow.

That being said, I am a big critic of anything I purchase. I still have the car, I still love the looks and performance and while I don't have a probem DDing it, I am purchasing a 2nd car so I don't rack up the miles so quick because I look for ANY excuse to drive it!

"Douche Mode"

It's true though...the car shifts HARD in sport mode.

I also bought a 2nd car to keep from putting a ton of miles on mine. Already at almost 11k since February. Would love to get it tuned, but when I had an issue with my PCM the dealer was quick to ask if it had been tuned and point out that, if so, I wouldn't have a warranty. SO.....no tune for now.
