Hear a lot about mantic but I don’t know that I want to drop $2k on one.

It’s my weekend car, would like something that will be able to hold power for a long time.

What are you guys using?

Spec stage2+ hybrid, factory flywheel. 12k miles on it, countless 1/4’s, best 60’ 1.51. Drives like stock, but heavier feel.

I got the same clutch and it holds the power all day long. Not as light as a twin or the stock for pressure but it's not bad.

I have a Whipple Stage 2 on order and the McLeod RST, their billet steel flywheel with their line coming in Tuesday. I’ll let you know if it grenades or the trans blows. I went with the McLeod cuz if the trans goes I can just send the clutch in to McLeod to have them respline the discs when I switch to a Magnum XL. If the MT82 goes kableewie I’m just gonna jump to an XL. Mantic let’s you switch out the discs as well to work w the XL but I wanted to try and future proof my setup as best I could but not spend $2k on a clutch either. I’m sure the other brands are just as good as my option and have the ability to be converted if you switch to a new trans but McLeod seems like a great choice that won’t break the bank with a lot of great feedback on here. Plus, Beefcake had a 15% off sale last week :)

Your stock clutch will treat you well if you take care of it. I’m still on my stock clutch and I road course my car as well as daily drive it. Will it wear more over time if using any power added components?...........of course. I to have a Whipple for over a year and I’m running over 800 rwhp with E85. My clutch is still working perfectly since I don’t 1/4 mile it which would surely shorten the life. I have an organic Mantic 9000 clutch, which can be had close to $1500 with a good sale, waiting in the garage for the day the stock clutch begins to let go.

I decided to pull the 6k mile stock clutch and trans on my stage 2 car before they come apart lol. We will be installing a magnum xl with an Exedy Mach 600 single disk and their flywheel from Beef (great pricing) in the next few days.

Are you running the Whipple tune, or a custom tune? I've been considering switching to the Magnum XL, but I'm curious how people are handling the tune. Since Whipple has the flight control features that allow power per gear, and the Magnum has different gear ratios, can we just turn off flight control and still use the Whipple tune?

I'm running the Exedy Mach 600 on the stock whipple tune. Holds the power no problem.

When I asked tech support at Whipple if the stock tune would work with a Magnum XL, they said it would without any changes needed. I'm not quite sure if the speedometer would require a Dakota digital box or something of the sort to match up.

Nonetheless, the flight control settings would still work as they aren't ratio dependent.

Debating the exedy 600 clutch for mine since I don't think the RST can hold the power. How long have you had yours?

I've had mine for a little over 2,000 miles. My car is a daily driver and I have 12 stop signs and/or red lights on my 2 mile commute to work. I did the Steeda clutch spring at the same time. Slightly heavier pedal feel from stock, but engagement is much better and overall I'm very satisfied. Best budget clutch IMHO.
