And Recaros :headbang:
Yeah but Recaro's are quite an easy retro-fit.

Magneride be bloody hard and hugely expensive to retrofit as you also need the bigger hubs, wheel bearings and all the other suspension components that come with the system, optioning it is a lot more than just a fancy set of dampers.

That's what I figured. I'm going to see whether I actually use the heating/cooling on the standard seats, then Recaro-up at a later date if not, along with potentially adding a rear spoiler.

I sold my GT86 last weekend, so the pressure is on to get a proper date for the Mustang. Every day it doesn't arrive after the 26th May will be another day driving our other car, which is an Ibiza
Another GT86 owner moving up to a Mustang, nice one. I sold my Aero version for a Grabber blue GT.

Yeah, it's time for a bit more comfort and a lot more power. I'll miss the directness of the GT86, but I have a feeling it's now or never when it comes to owning an affordable V8 in this country.

First impressions:

El cheapo plastic tunnel between seats. Perhaps the ÂŁ1700 options pack would be worth getting for this.
I like my tan seats.
Android Auto works a treat, no need for the Ford Nav.
Radio loud and clear, a subwoofer in the boot is not really needed for BBC R4.
The A10 gearbox is a modern wonder of the age, keen to save petrol but shifts beautifully and fast when needed. The rev matching growl on downshifts in Sport was unexpected and fun.
I'm assuming I've got Magneride, perhaps that will become obvious when the car has done a few hundred miles and I drive it faster.
The engine and it's sound are why I bought this car and in both departments it is an A+ student. Top marks.

I'll put up a photo or two in a bit.
Thanks for posting this. I'm kinda lapping up every UK based review I can at the moment (for which there is next to nothing). It seems you skipped the options pack like me. My decision wasn't solely based on money, but more to do with the fact that I hate the idea of having a redundant GPS system when I'm going to be using Android Audio 100% of the time. Also, I heard that the subwoofer isn't all 'that and I'd be better off adding a sub myself (which I'm perfectly capable of).

In regards to the nav-delete, I presume where you'd normally get turning instructions etc on the dash, you can select something like engine stats etc? Have you seen any reference to GPS with the option not installed?

Also... I was really worried that *not* choosing the options pack would mean that the interior would take a massive hit in quality. I'm still unsure if the custom pack actually adds all that much. I.e, the center console leather wrap etc... It's kinda too late for me, but would you have picked the custom pack had you known what you'd get without it?

Many thanks,
Drew

This annoyed me too. I ordered the custom pack because I had a big problem with the clacky plastic transmission tunnel of the car I test-drove. I also wanted the climate-controlled seats and I seem to be one of the few who actually like the forged wheels against the darker paints such as the Kona I've ordered.

What I didn't want was the nav, and it annoys me that it isn't a separate option for us. As you say, Android Auto looks brilliant.

Tell me if you use Apple Maps or Android Auto, I assume this uses your phone data. Does it use a lot as I think I only have 1gb a month

i'd assume it would as it's using your phones cellular data for the maps

It does use data, the amount will depend massively on your habits. You can download the maps on your WiFi before you travel, but you'll notice there's a limit to the area it allows. It's a pretty big area though so it depends on your travel plans.

I have Android Auto in my Optima. You really don't need anything else.

On some cars you can actually pull up overall car and engine status if the manufacturer allows it. I wonder if the Mustang has this facility to give us some juicy performance stats on the centre screen.

Can anyone clarify this? Its the Tachometer icon on the far right.

Ah! I wasn't aware it actually changes the tunnel material. Hopefully I l can upgrade this at a later date (I don't see why not).

Any chance you could snap a pic if you get a chance? I'm finding it difficult to find a photo showing the difference.

I presume there's no other features I'd miss other than trim materials, GPS and shaker pro?

Many thanks,
Drew

I tested android auto on the 2017 GT and there didn't seem to be any enhanced integration. I doubt that's changed for the 2018.

Hi Drew,

No, I think that's about it apart from the climate-controlled seats.

I would love to take a photo for you, but mine isn't built yet :headbonk:

Aaaah! Well, I'm kinda hoping that the tunnel material is still plastic and I didn't make a bad decision of not getting the custom pack... but at the same time, if it's made from leather or something then I'm happy for you too :D Only time will tell I guess.

In regards to the climate controlled seats... that was a few hundred quid option I added and didn't need to be part of the custom pack. :)

According to the brochure the custom packs include "Ebony partial leather wrapped centre-console"

Maybe one of the guys with the cars already can confirm. avocet? Toecutter?
