dont believe quality surveys praising Audi, you will have problems galore. Any german IMO
Amen. I traded a Porsche Cayenne for my Mustang and I couldn't have gotten away from that pig any quicker.

get a chevy SS, or a Charger scatpack (if you can, get a hellcat)

You are in a mustang forum, not sure what answers you expect, everybody here will tell to buy a mustang lol.

Anyway, buy a mustang...

I currently have a 15’ S3 and it’s a great little car. I’m actually going to order a 19’ GT PP2 or a Bullit when the order bank opens. Like the others said before me, the S3 and Mustang are completely opposite from each other.

Pros:
Agile and quick car
Compact
Has a usable backseat (seats also fold down)
Awesome transmission (DSG)
AWD
Can be easily tuned
Interior quality

Cons:
4 banger (blah)
May be expensive if things break down

I’ve had the car for almost three years and it never gave me any problems. If you find a good deal on a used 16, I say go for it.

Let me know if you have any questions about the S3.

you definitely DON'T want to own an Audi that isn't under warranty

If you're handy the Audi isn't a bad choice. But if you're not expect to pay 2x-3x for maintenance.

I'd be more interested in the Golf R vs the S3 as it is more practical, larger inside slightly, hatch practicality and can get a manual.

I'd be more interested in an S4 or S5 with sport diff and manual.

I'd be more interested in an M3/4 with manual.

People talking about maint or repair costs are funny.

4/50k btb, 5/60 powertrain. Shouldn't be paying for anything for some time, even buying used.

The 4cyl turbo cars are generally reliable. General maintenance costs are low considering what they can do, DSG service can be 250-400 depending on dealer.

And whoever considers a $20 coil pack to be a deciding factor as to if you buy a car or not is out of their mind. You can literally change them in 5 min, $20 and most will last the life of the car...

It’s a used 2016 Audi S3 prestige 10k miles for 38k the thing that worries me is it looks like the resale value is worse then the mustang . The 18 gt premium I ordered is 42k and comes with CarPlay and better gauges etc

Idk I like the Audi but my only reason for a backseat is my dog nothing else. Snow tires on mustang I would be fine . The s3 is a fun little car though and a tuned one o think will beat the new gt to 0-60

Try to look for a 2017 S3 since it’s a mid cycle refresh and also has a digital dash as an option. You’re right about the resale values, they do suck. I’m leasing mine so it’s not a real big deal for me. For practicality, the Golf R would be a better choice in your situation since it’s a hatchback therefore better for your dog. I also believe that the resale value is better with the Golf R.
