Hello all,

I am trying to get a specific car ordered and have decided to go all in on a new car. Do you think it is best to go in person to the dealers or would phone suffice?

Not sure what model of car that you are going to order but unless you already have some sort of relationship already built up with a Ford dealership you best get there down in person and negotiate your best deal knowing exactly what your OTD costs are going to be along with having a complete understanding of all options that you want on our car.

Nothing better than building up a strong personal relationship with key people from the dealership of your choice as that can go a long ways in the long run.

Good luck!

I've used several Ford dealers in the area in the past but to be honest the sales staff overturn is bad. I have the car spec'd out and have submitted some requests through the Ford website but have done nothing else. I just want 18 Magnetic, no stripes, black roof and convenience package. All I can find is Recaro's everywhere.

There has to be at least 10 to 12 Ford dealerships in the Dallas/Forth Worth area so suggest you qualify the best one over the phone and instead of dealing with a regular sales person I would start out with a GSM on the phone after which time you will probably either deal directly with him going forward or he will involve one of his best sales people to help consummate a deal for you and his dealership.

From there set up a meeting with the dealership of your choice and then get a deal done.

Pretty straight forward stuff but you must be willing to spend quite a bit of time if you want to get it done right.

;)

Thanks for the input - I assume I will be getting several calls tomorrow and will move forward that way. I can't wait to press the red button the first time, I've been out of the saddle to long....and Obsessed Garage is killing me....

Will do. I just found one out of state almost in spec (didn't have the roof) but 5k markup. Think I can do better.

Do you know why there are so many Recaro's out there?

Probably because they’re pretty good and most people buying the car will want the cockpit to be as sporty and supportive as possible.

Have you tried either option in person?

From another post ford misjudged the demand for the Recaro's. More people wanted the sofa seats than expected so the later produced models had to have recaro's to use up the stock they had.

OP, I'd call/email around too. I ended up purchasing my car from a dealer that I haven't even stepped one foot in (I'm in AZ, they're in GA).

Keep looking, at this point in the game you shouldn't 'need' to pay any markup.

If you're ordering the car that's out of state, ask for courtesy/fleet delivery. Good luck

Wow - so far 2 MSRP deals.
If anyone is looking for a Black GT350 he is willing to do it MSRP - sounded like you could get below as well, pretty sure. (North Texas)
The other is an order that he said he would do at MSRP, waiting to finalize.

Yes, I also have a similar style seat and they are a no go.
I am 235 5'11 so they are just not a good fit.
