I don' think anything is guaranteed until the keys are in my hand, but I am highly confident the dealer isnt going to backout on the deal. I have an itemized order sheet signed by both a dealer rep and myself, so I am pretty set.

Allocation to order and allocation to build are 2 things, so just want to make that clear. If the dealer for sure has an allocation to order, then yes the system allows a VOC. I have one and a screenshot from the dealer that it has been formally received by ford and confirmation from ford performance they have it in the system

Now the final allocation to build (in the GT350 case) seems to be a manual one driven by the regional rep. The process does not officially move forward into scheduling and build until the regional rep gives it a the green light. Per the guys are FP, my order is on "material hold" will remain there until changed by the regional reps. It doesnt actually have to do with any specific material shortage/hold, but more something just in the current system that is easy to use to hold off orders from moving forward.

Does that actually guarantee that the deal is yours? Would the system allow a VOC without allocation? I just want to avoid a scenario where I pay a deposit and believe it's on order just to have an "oops, sorry about that" conversation with the dealer.
1) is it an R? this would be the only problem....as everyone that signed up got a GT350

2) if it is a NON R you will be fine with the VOC...they just have to PULL the unit before you get a VIN...then you are really good to go..I would not worry about the dealership thinking they left money on the table..."a bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush.."

It's true. They can place the order and it will just sit with no activity until the build allocation is pulled. So it seems like some dealers are waiting for their regional reps to give them the OK to place the order, others are placing the order knowing it will sit on hold until the regional rep processes the allocation and sends it for build
I did end up ordering the car. It's an R. I received a VOC. It's been a few days and I asked for a DORA. He said he hasn't seen a DORA in years. Sent me a screenshot of the list of cars they had on order and mine is in there under material hold status. There is a very basic VIN pf 8TP8JZ. The order number matches what is on my VOC. Does this sound normal to you guys?
