I had a F150 with the coyote/10 speed. That thing was nuts.
Buddy has a Mustang with coyote/10 speed, even crazier.

I love the trans.

ZL1 A10 is rated at 650 lb ft. I think the regular A10 is 590.
That kind of rating makes me think it's actually quite a bit different. Manufacturers usually underrate the rating difference.

From my past experience, the GM 4L60E had a rating of 360 and the 4L65E had a rating of 380. But in reality, the 65E was quite a bit stronger even though technically its rating was only 20 more TQ and it was put in heavier cars with more than 380lb/tq rating.

I bought a 10 speed GT a month ago and frankly i'm not overly impressed with the 10 speed. it may be the ideal drag racing setup but around town it's meh unless you have the shifter in the S mode. I liked the old A6 in my 2011, 2013 and 2014 GT's better and the 8 speed in my 2016 Scat Pack way better. it hunts and seems to be a bit laggy around town. honestly not really as fan of it.

not around town, at least not that i can tell. The Challenger 8 speed is a much better transmission from my experience. to bad i disliked the rest of the car

I gave barely 25% throttle in drag-mode on a test drive and the back end came loose for a split second. Don't use drag mode for regular driving. :p

... Almost feels like a CVT
That’s the thing I didn’t care for. Honestly I came away from the test drive preferring my A6 in my 15. I’m going manual with my 18 order anyway. Time to row the gears again.

Other than nebulous concepts of fun and driver control there is legitimately no reason to choose three pedals.
That's like saying other than something tasting delicious, there is legitimately no reason to eat tastey food.

For what I bought my car to do, I love the A10. My car will get boosted shortly for half mile competitions. Drive 12hrs to an event, race all weekend, and drive 12hrs back. I test drove a '17 PP GT M6 and a '17 GT A6 with 3.55 gears but they both turned a lot more rpm on the interstate. The A10 is the best of both worlds with 3.55 gears and a fast low rpm cruise.
Around town in normal mode, the transmission is very smooth with a steady throttle. If you blip the throttle for a second to feel the car pull in the current gear, it will start changing gears and hunting instead.
Drag mode is a beast. Great for digs and rolls. Fast and violently hard shifts. While cruising in drag mode, the car acts like it's got a stall in it. It's hard to describe.
Sport and track modes are annoying to me around town with it downshifting each time you come to a stop. If you're into corner carving, I'll bet you'd love it.

My wife wants a loaded M6 vert for her weekend car so knowing her I may get the chance to directly compare both soon.

I won't deny the better shift extension/faster shifts make the 10-speed superior to the manual, though can also understand the satisfaction of rowing gears. How fast are the response from inputs with the paddles for those who don't leave it in auto?

Did you try any mode besides normal? The sport, track and drag modes have nice firm shifts as well as rev matched downshifts, feels nothing like a cvt.

Most meaningful post for me. I had a ScatPac with the 8 speed and that's what I was hoping for with the new 10 speed. I loved the sound of the ScatPac and the power train was great. But the car just didn't do it for me. I traded it in on my GT350. I know when I like a car....the ScatPac saw 2000 miles in two years. I did over 2000 miles in my Shelby in two months.
I remember driving through a McDonalds drive thru in the ScatPac and the cute young girl at the window asked if I ever got tired of driving it. I asked her why and she replied "it's so boaty". I laughed, but she was right after all.

The Shelby more than satisfys my need of a manual car. I am thinking of maybe another convertible for those relaxing cruises in the country with the wife. Mustang convertibles make the best road cars as well. I had a 15 and hated the sound of it stock and through two different exhausts. The A6 sucked as well. The car had no soul.

I had aspirations of a GT350R, but I'm over that pipe dream.

Very fast. See current (2018) posts in the SCCA - F Street thread in the autocross forum for more detail. Certainly at least as fast as shifting with an H pattern shift lever to shift a dog ring Hewland gear box in a formula ford, even without the clutch. Downshifts do require that rpm in the lower gear be below redline. In my GT I've seen 6 - 6.5K after the shift. With an EB with its lower rev limit I would guess about 1 K lower unless the calibration is different.

Note that if you are autocrossing or on a track or "canyon carving" you probably will simply use the paddles in S to shift between several gears relevant for the autocross, track, or "canyon" and therefore have just as much gear choice control as with a manual.

Plus some of these tuners should have the A10 figured out soon. Lund and others did great things with the A6.....we'll see what they can do with the A10.
