Ethanol free fuel

Just tanked up with 92 octane ethanol free fuel. Man, it feels like it made a good difference.

Downside is cost, $4.39/gal. Might be worth it occasionally, car feels more responsive, too. Hard to believe the cost difference, considering this used to be standard issue fuel years ago.:(

We're lucky. Only ten miles to a track for the occaisonal tank of Sunoce race @ 100 octane for a mere $8.75 a gallon, even smells different.

I found ethanol free gas station near me, (only one station) it's rated at 90 octane. Is that better than 93 octane with ethanol?

Has less energy density, so you have to use more to get the equivalent power, so you'll see MPG go up. But with a lower overall octane you're likely getting a bit of timing pulled I'd guess. But I'm no scientist

There is no ethanol free gas at a pump within 45 miles of me unless I get VP100 in cans. The only one listed within 15 miles has 100 octane at a small local airport, but its 100LL so it has lead. Looks like I'll have to go 260GT in cans

I use an app called Pure Gas to find stations that have ethanol free. For the most part, I have to run north across the Wisconsin border to get it, though.

Although there is lead free 100 octane race fuel available at a few local gas stations that is also ethanol free (sold as "off road use only") - last summer it was $6.99 per gal.

The next closest is about a 100 miles away and where I don’t usually go...

I'm very fortunate to have 2-3 gas stations near my house with 91 ethanol free.. which is odd since I live in the middle of corn country!!

It's simple. If you want power, an ethanol based 93 is going to make more than a pure 91 due to higher tolerance to knock and slight cooling effect of the ethanol.

If you want better mileage, pure gasoline is always going to be more efficient than ethanol one.
