Ah, I gotcha now.Sorry, I think you misunderstood. I like Alcantara. I just don't like that the company has been able to take a materiel invented in 1970 by a Japanese company (Toray Industries) as a cheap synthetic leather/suede alternative and licence it to an Italian subsidiary and magically you have something that is more expensive than leather. I gotta hand it to them for successful marketing.
I REALLY wanted Alcantara for my next Mustang and was incredibly disappointed after seeing that it was locked to the carbon fiber pack which is incompatible with the digital gauges, more premium interior and heated steering wheel of the 401a package... buuuut, then I started researching more and saw some 7+ year old cars with alcantara seats - all of them had wear with the suede getting “funny” having absorbed moisture and whatnot through the years. Just seems like it’s harder to “keep” alcantara for long periods compared to keeping leather.
The regular leather seats actually hold you in VERY well.Ditto. I felt like I would be slipping around too much on the regular leather seats so I went with the Recaros. If they allowed the ultrasuede option on the 401a I probably would have gone with that and then I could have kept the nicer seat options.
