I have a Paxton 2200SL right now on the stock 3.8 Pulley, shifting at 7600RPM. I am in the process of getting a motor sleeved and built, and should be able to really turn it up. The problem is the Max RPM rating of the SL unit is 52,000 RPM according to Paxton, and a 3.33 pulley with the stock diameter crank pulley puts the blower right around 56K at 7600. At that point, I would already be over spinning the blower and would have no room left to grow with a badass new motor. Looking for suggestions or ideas from those who have had the same dilemma. Upgrade head unit maybe?

Built motor deserves a YSI-B

4K over isn't going to kill a Paxton, but I would agree, if you want to take full advantage you should step up into the V7.

Additionally you could have the Paxton rebuilt into a 2200X with external oiling and a billet wheel IIRC. That will buy you some extra RPM if you wanted to turn more RPM, of course you would still be in the upper range of the blower's capability.

2200X Max Impeller speed is 65000, CFM 1950, max boost 30+psi, peak efficiency 78%. Same inlet and discharge sizes as the SL.

I called Paxton to ask about the 2200X and the guy basically cut me off and told me to sell the blower and buy the V7, so I may end up going that way if I decide to stick with the centri setup.

Or sell the whole kit and go turbo.
I'm really tempted to honestly. The YSI-B is 4k just for the head unit! Between that and selling my kit I'm not far away from a LPF of BW tuner kit.

Damn, guess they really want to push that V7 out the door for 4k. It would be nice if they offered some sort of trade-up program.

It would be interesting to know how many failures are out there from overspinning them.

How far were they taking them? I would hope they would take being overspun by just 7% (3.33 @ 7500ish?).

Anyone know who has the best price on the YSi head units? I have found one online so far for $3300ish, which isn't as bad as I initially thought above.

I also wonder how the used 2200SL head unit market is....

Right?! They do something along the lines of a trade-in program but they said they like $500-1000 bucks. I was hoping to get a little more than that

I'd think the V3 kit brackets are the same as the 2200SL. Maybe a market to those Vortech guys who want to put a larger unit on but not go full retard.

jt, jtb, ysi, billet ysi are all good options for upgrading if your wanting to put it on kill, of course we overspin our billet ysi by 8-10k

I'd like to hover in the 1k wheel range. I figure a YSi, non billet, and a modest bottom end build would suffice.
