Bottom line up front: upgrade fuel pump voltage booster from the start if ordering a Vortech or Paxton kit.

Mine stopped working randomly and had I not been data logging about 2 weeks ago , I probably wouldn't have noticed for a while. It was making the engine very lean in upper RPM range at WOT. Could've caused a major failure.

Now I'm running a Kenne Bell. When we called Vortech to ask about it they were quick to just say "it's broke, just replace it".

Just trying to pass on information and help the community out, I recommend upgrading to keep your engine safe. If you have the Vortech voltage booster, keep an eye on AFRs

This is what I'm worried about. I hate running a BAP at all. But I don't have the means to upgrade the fuel system just yet. About how long did yours last before it went out?

its an electrical component, unfortunately any can fail at any time.

however, there isn't a such thing as an "upgraded" bap from the vortech bap, their are simply different baps.

a bap is basically an "amp" for your fuel pumps. they all do the exact same thing.

you can always send it in and have it looked at

For those running a BAP, is it possible to tap in a voltage sensor after where the BAP is tied into the system or something?

they are all good
we offer the vortech
vmp
and
jms

vortech is a splice in,
vmp has a harness

both are full time

jms can be set on a throttle switch to only kick in on throttle

all good brands, all serve the same purpose,

Hey, if you wanna take my experience and go with a different BAP, cool. If you wanna tell me I don't know jack because they're all the same, cool. Just trying to put my experience/recommendation by not recommending a product that could've caused catastrophic failure. Just putting the Info is out there, take it or leave it.

Im sorry that the bap failed that sucks but any voltage booster will shorten the lifespan of your fuel pump and is really a short term answer. At these power levels a return style system is the way to go. Its like the opg debate. Will a bap work? Sure. How long? Some lost their pumps after a few thousand miles. Its a risk to save $. A return system is cheaper than a motor.

Does a BAP get hot? Electronics can be more prone to fail if they get hot. There may be differences in heat dissipation.
they do get hot,

we like to install in the spare tire well if possible or somewhere to keep from heat,

The jms is definitely a upgrade. They all do basically the same thing but having a constant high Voltage would decrease the life of the pump. So being able to control the voltage like the jms is a plus imo
