I have a used R as well, about 180 miles on her at this point. If someone wants to give me $84K for her, I'm game. I have a feeling that isn't going to happen however.

How about lets make it $83K and we will call it a steal? (sound of crickets chirping).

I paid 10k over for a used gt350r (has 160 miles). Of course, I would have preferred to have paid MSRP. Or for that matter, I would have preferred to have gotten it for free. But, I paid what the market dictated. I searched country wide for an avalanche gray with black roof black stripes with electronics package. Never found anything close to MSRP, new or used. I could have ordered an '18 for $5k ADM, but Ford apparently will not offer Avalanche for 2018. Plus, I did not want to wait that long for a gt350r.

Thus, I feel like I paid the market price for the car I wanted. Don't get me wrong, no one wants to overpay. But, I do no understand the folks that think dealer ADM's or even used over sticker prices are somehow offensive. If MSRP was the "correct" or "just" price and should never be varied from, then why would we ever have the right negotiate below MSRP. Take the ZL1 mentioned above, is it right or just to ask a dealer to sell the car below MSRP. Well of course it is, because thats what the market bears. Shouldnt it work the same way for prices over sticker? (note that I really respect dealers that honor MSRP, but dont blame those that sell over sticker).

I am very pleased with my gt350r. Amazed that it handles and feels so much better than my 991 turbo s and 991 GTS. Thats saying something. If this car feels as good or better than cars that cost twice as much, doesnt that mean its worth what we are paying (10k over for example)?

Anyone who says that folks are suckers for paying over MSRP on these cars is simply misinformed, ignorant or incapable of paying what these cars cost. Don't mean to be harsh, but any poster who takes that position must fall into one of those three categories.

Truth. People get so mindbendingly upset over ADM's but they think its perfectly the norm to get cars for thousands below sticker... it is a moronic mentality where a buyer HAS to feel as if they are getting a "deal" in order to be satisfied with their purchase... same as the guys buying trucks for $10-15K off new... they think they got such a great deal and don't seem to stop to think that they are still making money off those trucks, so it just goes to show how over-inflated the sticker price really is.

But ask $1,000 more!? Blasphemy!!! LOL

They could have easily placed the MSRP far higher than what it is and it would have been worth it. The experience is like nothing else out there, period, and that to me is worth a lot when I'm the one behind the driver's seat

OP, you can still probably easily pull $5,000 or more over MSRP, but I wouldn't sell for anything less than MSRP. As others have mentioned, I have yet to see a single case where an R was sold for anything less than MSRP other than Joe who's GT350 burst into flames on track... and I think he only got maybe $500 or something off...

Especially considering MY18's are going to be a long ways off looking at the facts we already know, and Harry [MENTION=16421]PP0001[/MENTION] is quite the knowledgeable fellow when it comes to these things. That is IF they actually build R's for 2018...

Right there with you. My 17 R is always on sale for >$82k. Just not advertised lol. Well - unless the market value goes up later (not holding my breath on that happening in my lifetime)

I do realize icormba is in the bay/silicon valley market. That market has always been high with people paying stupid money over sticker.

However, as I stated in my HR 361 introduction thread, prices have fallen. Mine was had for 2k over and another is on the way for 5k over. Lightning doesn't strike twice, and for that reason, it was not a freak deal.

That 2k over car Sat for quite some time at 5k over and that was with exposure in all the forums.

Big ADM'S are at this point for the lazy or people who do not want to be bothered with shopping around and the logistics of delivery from a dealer not in your area.

I said in another post "it's my money, don't tell me how to spend it". So I'm not going to tell people to not pay ADM'S, because at the end of the day, anybody can do with their money as they see fit.

However, just because someone wants to spend more for a car for convenience, doesn't mean that figure is representative of current market value, hence the bay bubble market. People there, as in other big markets, have more discressionary funds and people who have to have it right here, right now.

Case in point...... on a long layover in South Florida, I called a Miami dealership who had a white with blue stripes R. He was asking 65k over. Yes, 65k over. He was quick to defend himself when I read back his asking price to make sure I heard him correctly. He said I know that is a lot, however Miami is another one of those markets where discressionary funds and people who have to have it are.

So the point of all of this is that I wouldn't pay MSRP for a used R if I was able to buy new for a little more. List it for MSRP plus 5, maybe someone will buy it, maybe they won't. I havnt watched eBay lately for used R prices, so that might be a good place to start. What are they actually selling for?

You should list it on Rennlist just to see - There's a guy with one on there now for 79k and it has 650ish miles.

Good points but I'm not actively trying or wanting to sell mine. I was agreeing with the other poster that for the right price, namely +82k, mine is always for sale.

You're not too far off from having a chance there. A new one sold (seemingly) on eBay last week for $78,900. You never know for sure, with eBay, though.

Yes, exactly. My post was more rhetorical and geared towards the macro and micro R market. I probably shouldn't have hit the quote button on that one.

Well I suppose it was going to happen with the GT350's as well. For example, many 911 owners buy the car for its status as a visual achievement to the rest of society. They enjoy that others know it's expensive and that they're the one behind the wheel for all to see their trophy of success, wealth or what have you. For many (not all) that is what attracted them to the car in the first place. The old joke about the Porsche and the porcupine is as relevant today as ever.

With the GT350 it appears that the same may be happening. People who are into cars know that a GT350 isn't often found without a markup attached to it. It's become a status symbol of sorts because of it. It's certainly not why I bought the car or was attracted to it. It was a deterrent actually and took a while to find a great dealer. But it appears that some current owners revel in the fact that the reputation of the car is that you have to pay to play and if you can't pay it....well then of course you just couldn't afford it and it sucks to be you.

This mentality is elitist and snobby. Rubbing peoples face in it has never been my style. Especially these days when someone sees you in a car like this and thinks you haven't paid your fair share. :tsk:

Randy - you've just created a story in your mind about how you think many GT350 owners are acting (but not you). You've convinced yourself, and that's great - but try not to get upset when others don't agree with you.

You weren't happy as a 911 owner and now it seems like you're saying that you are starting to have the same problem with the GT350 crowd. Ever stop to think it might just be you?
