Between the two vehicles I have; the radio controls, cruise control, and wiper switch are opposite. It is a real booger sometimes. Never use the inside trunk button and I have never hit it by accident either. I do get the climate control buttons and the audio control buttons mixed up from time to time if I am actively driving because I don't like to take my eyes off the road.
Hah! I see you drive a 4-Runner. I drive a Tacoma and have the same issues. I think Toyota has some things scrambled, because most vehicles I've driven align with Ford's setup. At least the 6MT shift pattern is the same. I'll be looking at the Ranger when Ford bring it back.

Another case of wrong button . . . Actually wrong pedal. Mom had an ancient Chrysler when I was a kid. It had power drum brakes - about 1/2" of pedal travel between nothing and full lock-up. No ABS in those days. And the pedal was wide; maybe 8" - 10" or so.

You see where I'm going.

My car was a stick. When driving her car, can you imagine putting your right hand out to shift, pushing in the "clutch" and mashing the left side of that darn brake pedal like it was a clutch? The brakes screech, the car lurches and you plant your hand in the dash; the metal dash, of a 1965 Chrysler. Ouch. You'd think a kid could learn. But no.....

Yup. Been there (more or less). Same kind of upshift coming out of an Interstate on-ramp in a mid-1970's rental Olds Cutlass. In the rain. One of those never-to-be-forgotten Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot moments if ever there was one.

I miss my 13' Taco TRD Offroad.... But this 4Runner is the absolute bee's knees. I am not in the market for the Ranger but if it is like what they are already offering overseas, it should do well here.

I haven't hit the trunk button for sunglasses, but... I've set off the alarm in my pocket because the remote is too effing big and bumps crap all the time. And apparently I'm challenged upstairs since I still can't figure out how to get the window roll down with the remote consistently before I get in the hot car.

I had a 15 4runner. Solid, yet the lack of features and lack of power was disappointing. Ended up trading for a Edge Sport. Luckily the steering wheels and interface are similar to that of the mustang.

I do miss the cruise control stalk on the 4Runner. Much better design. I always have to look at the buttons to see what I'm pressing in either car.

This has happened to me a few times and it sucks. I almost wish you had to hold it for a second to prevent the accidents.

And yeah, the fact that it wont work when you are moving is a nice perk because I have hit it by mistake a few times on the highway.

Ford could do a slightly better job making the button feel more distinct from the sunglasses drawer.

Let's just say it's a good thing that the trunk release button on my wife's Subie is also inop while moving, or else I'd be having to stop on my way out of the neighborhood on a fairly frequent basis. There's this other little button down near the trunk release button (the one that's not 'politically correct' to push for normal driving) that I go to push anyway but sometimes find the trunk button instead. Cuss at myself when I realize which button I did hit and try again.

There's also some steering wheel button in her car that I guess is tied to bluetooth that I've hit a couple of times when in a big hurry to hit the horn button. Since neither of us has any use for BT, that one's been covered over with a thin piece of stiff clear plastic so it can't be pushed even intentionally.

merc123 Haha exact same brake issue with me. I don't have issues with the brakes in the mustang anymore being so grabby, but I came from an Audi that had softer brakes but were awesome for modulating, so I was always "slamming" them haha. But now that I'm used to them it's all good.

But when I get in my girl's Taurus...holy crap do I now hate soft brakes. I about rear ended a Mazda last night. Driving casually, pushed brake....nothing. quarter way depressed...slowed 2 MPH. By that point I was like WTF MAN. Probably scared him shitless lol. Brother's truck is the same. Feels like a 10 inch brake throw lol.

Keep hitting the "ON" button on cruise control to turn it off, forgetting you have to actually hit off. That was almost a dumb design. Should have just had a single button to turn on/off. It's an awkward angle for me to hit the off button with my thumb.
I've been trying to for my whole lunch break now, but I cannot conceive a single scenario where the cruise control "off" button is necessary.

By default, cruise control is off when you turn on the ignition. The cancel button, the brake pedal, the parking brake, the clutch, and a shift to neutral all cancel cruise control...

I think that might be the only button in my '16 that has not been used.

Hate to admit it, but when I first got mine I hit the engine Start/Stop button in traffic while reaching to turn the climate control on.
Also at night it's a 90% certainty I'm going to be hitting the wrong buttons because they are just lit LEDs that don't designate what the functions are.

Ugg! Me too! It's so much thicker than a normal key fob and sharing space in my jeans with a pocket knife means it usually sets the car to honking just as I'm climbing in.
