I had an 07 335i coupe. Loved that car. at 100k miles or so I started to get nervous about potential repair costs so I got out of it. It was pretty reliable for me though I did have my water pump go out which cost me quite a bit to repair, but other than that it was reliable as could be. It was an auto w/ jb4 tune and dual cone intake. With just those mods it ran 12.7's@112 all day on 255 street tires, not bad for a car that came w/ 300hp.

Fun factor was great, even though It was auto, it had aggressive gearing and the throttle response was sharp in sport mode. Handled awesome with the sport package I had and the build quality was crazy good, at 100k I had zero creaks or rattles.

I think the newer s550 mustang took a lot of cues from the euro market, so if you like the s550 you will probably like the sportier offerings from bmw/merc ect. That's my POV anyway.

My brother has a 2011 BMW 528i that I probably put 2-3k miles on. To me, they are very different cars. The interior of his BMW has some nicer features and the interior quality feels like it's all around better, as well as the overall ride being much smoother/quieter. That's what you get for having a luxury car, I guess. Performance wise, though, my S550 just feels way meaner and louder. The drive is way more exciting and no car has really put a smile on my face quite like my S550 (With the exception of the Ferrari 458 I got to drive for about 30 minutes). The difference I would say between the BMW and the Mustang is that the Mustang has a certain character that many cars just lack. It wants you to go faster and it wants to be pushed. The power band is high and the car screams when it hits the higher RPMs and it doesn't want you to stop going.

Are there faster, more luxurious cars out there? Sure there are! However, the Mustang has such a rich history behind it and it's hard to not think about it as you're about to begin a long cruise. To me, it makes me feel like I'm a part of something and judging by this community, I'm not alone.

My 2 cents...and it's all been said before, the bang for your buck compares very favorably to the BMW world. Is the interior up to par with what the Europeans offer? No, but damn they're getting a lot closer with the s550. The cost to mod is substantially less and with a greater variety of suppliers and options. Does the car carry the cache' of a BMW no but I get more looks and comments on the Mustang than any BMW I had in the past. On our car clubs fun runs I can hang with the best of Germany for 1/2 the cost of an M3/M4.

P.S. No major repair issues with any of the BMWs or my Mustang at all. I did blow one of the turbos on the track in my 335i but BMW covered it under an extended warranty
(I had 78k miles on it when it went on the back straight at Barber Motorsports Park)

And i prefer my mustang over any bmw. They were not reliable at all and it seems they love to be broken down and the repairs are sky high.

I used to have a 2007 328xi which I really loved, if I had the money I would keep it and buy the Mustang but had to trade it in (kept the vin number just incase if I could find it after I settle down). It had plenty of power for a daily driver and it was spectacular around corners. I traded in at 90k miles and it was a reliable vehicle, just had to replace a few parts due to wear and tear as expected.

I also had a 2012 X5 35i which was a total nightmare to own, yes the vehicle was fun to drive but it just kept on breaking down. Good thing the car was a CPO with warranty, otherwise I would've have paid over $15,000 in repairs.

Comparing them to the S550, I would say that I wish I've gotten a Mustang earlier. It would be real difficult for me to decide between a German car and an American car. I switched over to the Mustang after I became disillusioned in the driving dynamics of the new BMWs as well as the maintenance costs.

Since that X5 was a total nightmare, the dealer gave me alot of different loaners to drive, most were the performance version of the models (35i). After driving most of them, I feel like they are now tailored for comfort first than sport. The steering did not have alot of feedback as I can turn the wheel with a single finger and to even get that feeling, you have to pay alot for the adaptive M suspension. I like the way the driving dynamics are in the S550 Mustang, it's pretty much what I was looking for as a replacement for my car and the newer BMWs didn't do that.

Obviously the interior of BMWs is better than the Mustang but the Mustang Premium for me is excellent. Yeah there are a few plastics here and there but it's not that bad as I thought it would be when I first sat in the car.

I actually just traded in my 135i. I loved that car and would still have it would it not be for it constantly breaking on me. But after 3 oil leaks and 2 water pumps in the last couple years, it was time to get rid of it. Plus it needed tires and brakes at time of trade in so it seemed to be perfect time.

Had an 06 760Li. Best over all car I ever owned until the extended warranty expired! :lol:
Seriously. Not the fastest car but overall the most comfortable(20 Way front power seat), V12 motor with more than enough power to get you somewhere quick and at the time great looks. :cheers:

Wife has a 2012 128i sport. Nice car, but the Mustang drives nicer and rides nicer. My wife likes my seats better than her sport seats. We have 114K on the BMW. Had to do the o-ring under the oil filter stand repair about 15k ago. Changed out plugs a few times and coils at 90K. Battery died at 12k. Got rid of the run flats after the second set in 25k. Not a bad car. Pretty Montego blue with black leather.

We also have a 528Xi. Mustang is fun to drive! BMW is nice to ride in for long trips.

I had very good experiences with my bimmers. My sister still has my 08 328i going strong at over 135k miles. Leaks oil from the VCG and OFH but that's it.

Definitely love bimmers, and the aftermarket community is great. So many mods. But I feel that my F30 will be my last new BMW unless it's an M-car (which I might upgrade to from the S550). The new ones seem to get further and further away from their original driving experience.

The S550 is the first american car I've owned and it surprised me how much of an improvement they made - it is 80-90% the car that the bimmers are at anywhere from 50-60% of the cost.

I will miss my F30 when it's gone back after the lease is over. The car feels so nimble compared to my S550.
