It's fine, the engine may have been hot tested from the factory anyway. The main thing about a brand new engine is that the friction is higher, so the fuel economy and peak power are going to be worse than a broken in engine.

I just make sure the car is thoroughly warmed up. For me it was on the way home from the dealership.
Same! 2nd gear WOT pull getting on the freeway only 2 miles off the lot. Mine burns no measurable amount of oil.

Don't baby it or you'll end up with an oil burning pig.
I'd love to see a real study on this;

Do people that baby their motors when new see more oil consumption? I'd bet with Coyote Mustangs the answer would be yes.

It's funny how many car enthusiasts treat their vehicle like it's human, or simply "feel" about their vehicle rather than think about it, which often times causes them to do the wrong thing.

My 2012 Boss was babied and ended up being a oil burning pig. i was told it's because the rings were not seated.

1600kms.
I did a few hard launches during this period. Varying speed and rpm's seems to be the best route for break-in period from what I researched. Every engine is different. Other new cars I babied during break-in and made it past 200,000kms and had no engine problems.

When I did my first oil change at 2500kms after storing it this winter(i got my car in Oct) there was metal shavings galore in the bottom of my oil catch pan.

i did 300 miles of stop and go driving .. that was for the clutch to wear in properly then after that i did 1000 miles total, changed the oil then let her rip.
you changed the oil that early? is that necessary? Dealer told me after 5000 miles.

The owners manual says to vary your RPMs (ie. don't cruise for a long time at a given RPM) for the first 1000 miles. It does not say to avoid going WOT and does not say to avoid revving it out to redline for any set number of miles - I was going WOT from day one.
This. If you break the car in like a sissy the car will run like a sissy. Vary RPMs and let her rip.

I am gonna say at least 500 miles and maybe 1000 miles to be safe.
But don't be too gentle in that time either. You wanna load the engine, just avoid full throttle and redlining.

I think Boss is just like the GT350. They have forged pistons that do not seal very well under normal conditions because they are sized to be perfect under track conditions.
A lot of high performance engines burn oil under normal driving conditions.

I am gonna do half way 2500 miles.
The reason is so that you get most of the break in stuff in the filter as possible before contaminating fresh oil.

I let her rip to the limiter at the first stop light leaving the dealership.

If you baby it the rings will not set properly, and the engine will burn oil. Put the pedal to the metal after engine warms up of course and you have a warranty anyways.

Better to find out during the warranty if you have a lemon. I always change my oil after 1000 miles.

When I bought my car last May, I asked how I should treat the car for the first little while. I was told... "Drive it like you stole it!!!".

Worked for me.
