Just picked up a 17 GT in automatic. Have around 220 KM on it. Haven't taken it over 3500 ROMs yet. Gotten different answers from everyone, one buddy said 1000 miles and read online u can do it after 500. I don't recall what the manual says. What do you guys say?

Some say 500 miles, but I waited until 1,000 miles until I completely floored my girl. And boy it felt amazing.

I don't know how to answer that question, the S197 Mustangs didn't use your new system.ROM's,is that something like star wars shit, or has Ford put in some new kind of pro boost system, read the manual and let us know.we don't want to exceed the ROM's.:ford:

Definitely do floor it occasionally and take it to redline a few times in the first 1000 miles. Just don't do long sustained runs of wide open or redline. Also do let it engine brake from high rpm. All these things help seat the rings and bore properly for the life of the engine. Most of the wear metals will be shaved off and in the filter very early.

Owners manual says 1000miles.
The owners manual says to vary your RPMs (ie. don't cruise for a long time at a given RPM) for the first 1000 miles. It does not say to avoid going WOT and does not say to avoid revving it out to redline for any set number of miles - I was going WOT from day one.

This!

Warm it up, and have fun. Don't baby it or you'll end up with an oil burning pig.

I gave her the full enchiladas on the first day. Leaving the dealership.
Red lined 2nd & 3rd getting on the on-ramp. She had 5 miles on the odometer.
Why baby it? Drive it like it's meant to. It's only a Mustang.
If it doesn't blow up on the first WOT, you're good to go!!

Right from the first turn of the key............well, let the oil get to temperature.

People that think you have to baby a stock motor for the first......500, 1000, whatever number of miles, don't understand them.
