A week from delivery and leaning toward ppf but have to travel and stay somewhere while it's installed which is a PITA so still on the fence. Anyone not get ppf and willing to own up their regret to convince me it's worth it or were you happy with your decision and sleeping at night just fine with the imperfections on the car of your dreams.

One of the biggest factors will be the color of your car. My Mercedes was black as is my R, and although I had the front of the car wrapped on the AMG, the rest of the paint still got demolished from road debris, sand, salt etc. And I was meticulous with detailing it, waxing, etc.

I decided to have my entire R coated with XPEL, and it was one of the best decisions I ever could have made. Absolutely 0 stress now in regards to washing the car, I never have to worry about being so anal cleaning it/maintaining it, and I can rest easy knowing small dings/scratches will never happen.

If you can afford the relatively large investment up front, it pays huge dividends psychologically and physically :D

Ditto for the psychological part. I was constantly worried while on the road, making sure to have enough distance, etc. Now, if I forget I'm following too close or forced behind another vehicle, I'm not worried about my front end getting potentially ruined.

The only thing I regret was not putting temporary front protection on my drive to get the ppf done. Had a huge truck pull out in front of my on the interstate and kick a rock up. Realized it made a small chip just above the front splitter on the paint when they went over it with their special lights. It's tough to see if you aren't looking for it, but I know it's there.

I'm getting it done soon. Went 12 months with one single tiny ding now have somewhere close to 10 after a couple spring drives totally maybe 100 miles. Totally regret not doing it day one.

Thanks to all so far. You are convincing me to spend a few days out of town. Car is AG. Will be putting Trakktape on it for the drive home and before heading out for ppf.

I did the full hood, fenders, bumper, and mirrors.

I'm debating doing the doors and quarter panels too now, so I can protect the paint as much as possible.

I had the front clip wrapped the first week I got the car. If you don't plan on getting the entire car wrapped, you should at least consider doing the quarter panel, the area in front of the rear tire. There is a high chance of rock rash in that area.

I did it on the way home from dealer (5 miles with track tape). At least have the frontal impact areas as well as front - rear quarters.

I get asked this a lot since I don't have mine wrapped. Now that I have 10k miles on it with a coastal road trip and multiple track days, I feel pretty comfortable sharing my thoughts on the subject.

I'd say it truly depends. If you ever plan to sell the car - get PPF. Really no question. Well, unless, maybe, it's a sunny day weekend car that barely gets driven.

I personally decided against it because I knew with my intended heavy use, my paint would get trashed without a full car wrap. They happen everywhere. The backside of the roof, the spoiler, the trunk, the doors, etc... to me, that wasnt worth $4-5k for temp protection on a car that would cost roughly the same to repaint. Once I'm done driving the car across the country on road trips and terrorizing all the tracks I can manage, I'll get it repainted with a harder clear coat and no orange peel. Then she can be a beautiful show car :)

Until then, I like to think of them as battle scars.

Wish I had done it. Front is torn up pretty nice below the two side grills. Oh well. Live and learn.

I have minimal PPF on my car. Just the front bumper and the flared frontal section of the rear quarter panels.

I have no regrets in not doing more.

I love to detail my car and enjoy the natural beauty of my paint. PPF serves a purpose, but for me it also detracts from enjoying the paint as it was meant to be. Maybe someday in the future a ceramic coating will be invented that comes closer to PPF in guarding against chips, that would be the ideal solution.

The front of this car is particularly bad for chips. Mine looks like it has been sand blasted if you get up close. At least you cant tell from greater than about 4 feet.
