Was there damage all the way up to the door jamb to require new stickers?
The stickers inside the driver's door jamb are on the back area of the jamb, which is part of the rear quarter panel.

@15DIBGT

Chris,
Did they find any broken clips at the bumper/quarter-panel seam?
Was there damage all the way up to the door jamb to require new stickers?
Not sure about the clips at the bumper seam.
There wasn't damage all the way to the door jamb but it is part of the whole rear quarter and I did get new stickers.

Why did you choose gloss black over matte black for your diffuser? To match your roof and vents?
I did it to match the roof and vents, I like the gloss better than matte (personal preference)

Do you have a line-item charge for the painted diffuser?
No, My car is a base and I needed a whole new rear bumper. So I asked if they could get the premium and paint it the way I wanted it. And they said the could as long as it was the same price as the base bumper. They said if it was more I would have to pay the difference but I ended up not having to pay anything out of pocket.

Thanks, and your car looks great.
Thanks!

As for myself, last night I backed into a colleagues door that he left open for a long time. Where was my RPA warning beeper when I needed it? Now his door won't close, and I have two crease/dings in my bumper. So much for this always-back-it-in bullshit.
Sorry to hear that. I'm surprised the beeper didn't go off.

I think that a gloss black diffuser might match the gloss black deck panel, and give a more race car look.

But non-car-people seem to like the yellow diffuser. I like both, but can't have it both ways. Still can't decide.

Bringing this old thread back to life with a question. I am having my quarter replaced due to a tree that got split in half during a storm.....but my damage also includes a new trunk, tail light, roof will need some dent pulling and paint, and the upper door frame (not sure what you call it) that goes from the quarter panel all one piece down the windshield pillar.

Well I was looking up these parts online and in the diagram it appears that the quarter panel is all one piece up to around the area above the door, including that flat piece between the door and quarter glass. (around where the drop cloth ends in your picture). In your pictures it looks like they made two cuts, on that flat section and on the part between the quarter and back glass. I'm wondering why they didn't do all of it?

It actually continues all the way around the side window and ends at the hood. They cut it due to the additional work that would be involved removing the front windshield and installing the new one to that point.

I had the passenger side rear quarter panel replaced in my 2012 V6. They did the same thing, but cut a little higher up than in the picture you quoted. About the half way mark of the side window. It was explained to me that there was a lot more work involved replacing the entire panel than to cut and splice in a new one.

What I was looking at was two pieces. See diagram. Just replacing the full quarter wouldn't require replacing the other part, does it? Seems to me that they could just cut it at the point where the quarter ends. But in my case, there is some damage near the aft area of that pillar section so I wonder if they'd just cut a small piece to patch or replace the whole thing.

That second part you're seeing in that diagram is a part of the frame. Not the panel.

Looking at the Ford Parts site for the actual panel makes it appear that it is separate. Could just be a splice on the diagram to make the image smaller.

The body shop will be able to tell you exactly what they will do with that smaller damaged section.

You can get diminished value. It might take a lawyer. It's good you are using a Ford bodyshop. You won't have to worry about your insurance company trying to use aftermarket parts.
Contrary to popular belief going through a Ford body shop for an accident DOES NOT guarantee Ford parts...

An SUV hit the side of my car and I called the Ford bodyshop near me and asked if they guarantee OEM parts. They said no, its up to the offenders insurance company to decide whether they want to pay for OEM parts or aftermarket parts. Things like wheels will always be OEM but bumpers, quarter panels, lights, etc will likely be aftermarket if its a cheap insurance company. Most people dont bother to ask, just assume or dont even know aftermarket body parts are even a thing. In some scenarios, they'll tell you you have to pay the difference if you want OEM parts. Other times (like in my case), the body shop will love your car and would hate to throw on aftermarket stuff so they'll hook it up regardless of what the insurance company says. So make sure you ask!!!

That may have been what you're told. However, that is not the case when it comes to another person's insurance deciding what goes on your car. I work in the industry.

The policy will indemnify you for damage caused by their insured. That means if you want OEM parts on your car, and you had OEM parts on there, you tell the body shop that's what you want.

Now, your own policy is different. That is up to your carrier. Make sure your policy does not have wording in it saying like kind and quality. That allows non-oem parts. Most companies have an endorsement that can be added specifying replacement with OEM parts, but there is a cost.

Damn, sucks to hear that happened. That kind of thing is what I'm paranoid of every time I'm at the head of the pack sitting in the left turn lane. It doesn't seem to matter how far I hang back, while everyone in the lefthand turn lane from the cross-traffic side is making their turn it's like they're steering right for you and crossing as far over into your lane as they can rather than stay within the boundaries of their lines, coming within inches of you. Even just being cynical and sarcastic one day, I stopped in the lefthand turn lane at an intersection and stayed sitting there like 2 car-lengths back just to watch what these people do and sure enough, everyone turning from the cross-traffic ahead of me practically drove right down my turn lane while making their turn. You just can't trust other people lol.

Update on the mustang. I traded it and picked up a 2016 Roush stage 3. As far as value on it goes they gave me 25200 for the GT and I got the Roush for 42900. Overall I'm happy with the deal and glad to be out from under the wrecked GT.

I'm curious how much lower that is than it would have been with no damage.

I see I never updated this thread with the outcome of mine. Totaled. The final insurance estimate was over $13,000 for repair on a cash value of $18,000. What did it in was that top piece, they said that Ford does not allow it to be sectioned and replacing the whole thing down to the lower windshield pillar also requires replacing the roof panel because of how its welded to this door frame. Plus they put in for an inner quarter saying it too was dented in.

So I got out of the Mustang and opted to not get another one. It is now awaiting assignment at the insurance auction, it'll probably be parted out. What a shame.

Those quarters are ridiculously expensive to repair!
