For those that have the FRPP tune and the Airaid intake tube:
1. Is there much difference between the stock tube and the airaid? - is it worth it?
2. I know you have to modify the airaid tube a little bit, what exactly do you need to cut?

I'm considering buying a used one, and was curious of what yall thought. Thanks!

I went from the stock tube/GT350 filter back to the stock box with airaid tube and AEM dryflow filter.

IMO the GT350 style had a better throttle response, but the power level seems to be about the same.

Just read about this updated tune business. How do I do this? I still have the connector thing that came with the tune but I just handed it all over to the shop and had them flash it when they installed the air intake.

Can I do this myself?

I'm going to. But if you didn't make your own account with Ford Racing you might have to go back to the shop. I made sure to do it all on my own laptop so I could have it for later and brought the shop the laptop with the tune on it already.

Just came back from the dealer today where
I bought my car, I asked about the tune they did not even care or bother to. Basically they don't mess with outside factory "stuff", looks like just about as smiling ruins your warranty here, gotta admit a bit disappointed. Got to find another dealer. To be honest this kind of sucks because it's a tune that should of been stock. Next car for sure will be something that comes ready stock for sure.

You would need to go back to the shop that installed the original tune and have them do the update since they created the account.

So my software updated to 1.992 but how do you download the new calibration file? I guess I'll try plugging it back into the car.

The quick answer is to make sure you have a battery charger hooked to your battery, plug the unit back into your car, open the software on your PC and find the download tab. Download the new tune then program.

The more correct answer is - On the main screen of the software there is a question mark right below the voltmeter. If you click that it will open the instructions in a PDF file.

If anyone is interested, I have an FRPP intake and tune kit that has never been installed for sale. I'm going to post it in the classifieds here shortly, but you can pm me if interested. Looking for $475 shipped. It is now posted in the classifieds with picture.

Answers you get on this will almost surely be subjective. First of all, testing has shown very little improvement with any intake. People claim with an open box intake like the GT350 intake that comes with the FP Performance Pack they get better throttle response. This is possible because of with no box restricting it, the availability of a larger burst of air is possible while the flow from the grill opening may be plenty sufficient to sustain long term pulls but there's never been anything to quantify it. It does make sense though.

It also makes sense that the stock closed intake box would do better for heat rejection as it's sealed off well from the engine compartment. The intake tube design from AirAid has a smother flow and doesn't have the ridges from that flexible part like on the stock tube. That could reduce turbulence, increasing velocity.

The real question is, will the FP Tune really benefit and use more air? Personally I doubt it and I've never seen any testing on that level of performance that would suggest improvement. Now if you went auxiliary fueling and big turbo, then I would think the current intake might be restrictive or at least need review.

There will ALWAYS be people that put an intake on or a catback and swear their car is faster. Without data, I wouldn't believe it. So in short, I'm betting it might reduce turbulence but you would see no measureable improvement. That's just my guess though as I don't have any data to back that up either.

Thanks for your input. I think you're probably right. The reason I asked is bc I have an opportunity buy the the airaid tube and the dv+ DV off of a local guy for a pretty good price. Just didn't know if the tube is worth it. I think I'll just go with the dv+, because I've heard good things about it.

DV+ is definitely worth it. The AirAid tube.....I didn't really notice a difference. Probably should have saved my money on that one. Looks cool, though.
