For me the Mustang is, in my opinion, a more mature car. Sounds better, cheaper to mod and overall less mods required to satisfy my wants.

Thats how I feel about it as well, just need to drive one now and make up my mind on the auto or the manual haha I love the evo and all but personally feel ill enjoy the mustang just as much even with sacrificing the handling.

Came from a tuned 2.3T gen 1 speed3. Love the v8. Hated having to stay in boost to not feel like a Prius.

You'll be disappointed with the power out of the box on the GT.

I came from a 450awhp Evo 8 that was fully built everything on E85. The GT would get its ass dragged all day.

This is one of the reasons why I bought a GT350

Always been a honda guy, but driven a few turbos from other brands as well. Had second thoughts when I ordered my Mustang as I was thinking maybe a 370z. Finally test drove one a month ago, and boy was I happy that I ordered one.

Won't get mine until next year because I changed my order to the my18, but as early as now, I'm trying to convince my wife that I'll buy the gt350r or gt500 or whatever special mustang model they decide to release here in Australia! Actually I told her that even if she says no, I'll still buy one hehehe.

Ive been lurking around the forums on here and I think I will soon be coming over to the muscle side lol I currently drive a 2013 evo x gsr full bolt ons on e85 and make 380 uncorrected to the wheels. I am looking at a 2017 mustang gt with perf package in black and just wanted to hear about those who have made the switch from an evo or another platform. Does anyone have any regrets about switching over? I personally feel like its time for a change and with the amount of money I've spent on the evo x i feel like the stand would be way faster. Their is no track where I live so the car will be used for the drag strip and weekend fun. Even though the evo handles amazing, I feel like there is still something missing and need more power. Thanks guys:D
See my sig. I owned nothing but Subaru's prior to the Mustang. I was actually looking into an Evo when cross shopping the Mustang/Camaro but just felt like the car is way dated at this point to pay 35-38k.

With that said, I got my GT at the end of June 16. I have since put 14500 miles on it. I have enjoyed every one of them and have not looked back honestly. From the sound, the looks to the way the car delivers the power I just felt like there is more thrill involved. This car will get your blood pumping real quick. With my previous cars I felt like I had to really push them to get that thrill and the fact that I had to heavily mod them to get the power I get now stock (well I am running e85 flex tune).

Usually in the Subaru I only got other Subaru enthusiasts come talk to me about the car. In the Mustang, I can't go anywhere in one day without someone coming to compliment the car on the way it looks or sounds, or just wanting to talk cars in general. The S550 is clear indication that Ford did it right on this car because people go crazy for them.

I still go up on the mountains with my Subaru buddies and I can drive as hard, or harder than they do on the curves. I am just lowered on coils, wheels and tires and the car grips hard (255/275). I was pulling close to a G on the curves the other month.

The only thing I will miss is the resale value. The Mustangs don't hold value NEARLY as well as WRX/STI/EVO. So if you are looking for a car that you might end up selling later, getting used is the way to go so you don't bite the depreciation loss.

The main reason I went with the GT is because aftermarket is REALLY good. Much better than almost any other car I've seen. The Coyote is a proven motor and can handle 650-700whp safely without even blinking an eye. If you enjoy pushing limits you can get more out of it than that.

Forgive my ignorance, but how did you get from 291 HP at the crank to 380 at the wheels with bolt-ons and a tune? That's a wheel horsepower gain of what..130-140?

Turbos + e85 = very easy.

Not sure about the Evo but a stock 2015-2017 WRX can gain right around 80 whp on e85 alone before ANY bolt ons, off the showroom floor (direct injection). They usually put down around 240whp stock. I had quite a few friends who made 320-330whp on E85 with no other parts. FBO+e85 they were making around 400whp on stock turbos. I didn't have e85 so I went with meth injection and made around 400whp as well but turned it down to save the rods.

Yikes. That's nuts. Is an E85 fuel tune daily drive-able?

It is but you have to be careful. There were people having issues with the high pressure fuel pump getting gummed up from the e85. There were also a handful of e85 engines that went by-by. Unlike the Mustang though they couldn't run e85 flex tunes stock, it had to be straight e85 tune which you run more risk because you are tuned for one specific ethanol content whereas the flex is variable and can adjust. Cobb came out with a Flex kit a few months ago for the WRX. My buddy has it. He is making 340whp with exhaust/intake/e85 Flex.

I drove his car after having my Mustang on e85 and quite honestly I was a little underwhelmed. My WRX felt like it had more torque and pulled harder than his car but maybe the Mustang has spoiled me now and my old car would feel as slow. I let him drive my Mustang and all he could say was "wow". Quite a different between the two now I think. A stock GT will feel as good as a FBO 4 cylinder 2.0 that's for sure.

Absolutely! With the V8, during casual cruising....moderate acceleration, down shifting when coming up to stop signs/lights.
The Coyote sounds absolutely beautiful with the right exhaust.

You don't HAVE to drive aggressive to absolutely enjoy the V8's character.

So, what I'm saying is with a V8 you can be smiling while you're in stop and go traffic...enjoying the character of the V8.

Whats the average spent on full bolt ons and e85 on the 5.0s? I've pretty much spent about 4k to get to 380 lol
it depends on what your definition of "FBO" is.

Intake ~350
headers ~1000-1500 depending on brand and if you pay to install them
tune ~400

that usually puts people around the 440 whp mark on the dynos in my area, with stock GT's putting around 385whp on those dynos.

add an intake manifold for ~500 (holley sniper) or 1k for the GT350 and some were seeing 450-460. It's pretty easy to get big power FI as well. Not necessarily CHEAP, but easy and pretty reliable too.

It's going to be really important that you drive a GT before making any kind of decision based on dyno claims. Your boosted Evo has a huge advantage at higher altitudes (like much of CO) and the Mustang may be wheezing in that thin air.

While I'm usually not into the Evo/Sti/WRX/Focus RS kind of scene, it's impossible not to admit the amazing capabilities that these little sedan/hatches have. I get the appeal...and it's a very different brand of fun from a V8/RWD muscle car.
